Put the tips into practise today during my round. Bob - the 'gate' thing is a revalation! My ball striking is so much more consistent. There were a few duffs but by and large I was striking the ball much better. I had 37 stableford points with 2 blobs, which I was more than happy with in the windy conditions. The highlight was when my playing partners declared a longest drive contest on a Par 5. I thought to myself "don't get involved", so pulled out my 3 wood and took a nice easy swing - out drove them all!
Thanks again for your help. I'll persevere with the tips and hopefully shoudl see some improvement over the spring/summer.
