Surrey Downs Golf Club Membership

Hello everyone.
I’m looking to get back in to regular golf now that my children are a bit older and am considering joining Surrey Downs as they have some decent deals on membership over other clubs in the area, and it seems like a decent course. Just wondering if there are any other members that can give their opinions on the club and the membership experience?

Quite A few members left and joined Farleigh a few year back due to how bad it was in the winter, I’ve only played the course in the summer.

I am a member at Epsom (played Surrey Downs a few times) and I know several members of Surrey Downs. Surrey Downs have been closed A LOT this year whilst Epsom has largely remained open. I think if you are looking for mainly summer golf, it is a good course but it is closed/partially closed a fair bit in winter months.

Thanks. How do you find Epsom? I've played there a few times but find a lot of people walking on the course or having a picnic along the fairways in the summer which put me off considering it.

I have only been playing golf circa 18 months (took up golf late) - and only ever been a member at Epsom (so don't really know any different), although have played a dozen or so other courses with a society I joined last April.

There are dog walkers, but generally I haven't really found that an issue (for me at least). There has been the occasional "picnic", but I have only seen that two or three times during the summer late afternoons after work, when there are not many golfers. I have never seen a picnic over the weekend and I play most Saturday & Sunday mornings.
