Hi golfers !
after a bit of advice from anyone who has some experience with the callaway sure out wedges. I’m not the worlds best chipper and definitely even worse in bunkers
I currently have a 52, 56 and 60 degree wedge set up, I’m debating switching the 60 out for a sure 2 wedge
just wanted to know from people with experience did you notice a straight improvement and also if choosing out of the 58 and 64 loft which would you go with ?
thanks in advance

I don't believe changing wedges will make you (or anyone) a better chipper or bunker player. For less than half the price of a new wedge, you could book a lesson with your local pro.

I used to caddy for a guy who was a magician with his (pre Callaway purchase of Ben Hogan) Sure Out 60* - both from bunkers and rough (especially . I've tried them (a 56 and a 60) with seriously mixed results, partly due to the sand being 'unsuitable' for the style (massive flange) but mainly my inability to generate/maintain sufficient speed/follow-through (with my crocked hip)! I've gone back to a 58* Vokey with reasonable success.

The massive flange suits some types of sand (fluffy/loose particularly) but commitment to the shot is essential. Our currently non-maintained bunkers are not very 'Sure-Out friendly' unless the sand is fairly 'loose', so my injury-driven 'slaps' often give a pretty poor result!

A bunker lesson is definitely a good idea!

I have a Sure Out 2 60° and it's amazing. It really does make it a hell of a lot easier. I used to be very inconsistent with bunkers, but with the Sure Out, the extra weight on the sole basically does the work for you by keeping the speed through the swing and blasting through the sand on impact. It's probably the best club I've ever bought. You don't need to open the face or any faffing about, just keep it square and hit the sand behind the ball with some speed and the club does the rest.

It is the unpopular opinion on here though to suggest that different equipment might actually make the game easier, so I'm sure I'll be in the minority.

Haha I have taken the above advice and booked a lesson. Going to focus on some pitching and then bunkers
I do think if I even after the lesson I’m struggling then I may buy one to give it a go.
do you specifically use yours for bunker play ? Or around the green too?

Only in bunkers. I don't chip with a lot of loft unless I need to go over something, I generally chip with the 8 iron or PW. Very occasionally out of thick grass going over a bunker I might use the 60.

I can only speak from personal experience as someone who 2 years ago didn’t own a golf club and had never played golf.
In the last 18 months I have had about a 10 hours worth of lessons. In that there were 2 bunker lessons and during the lesson, out of fluffy bunkers, I was excellent. On the course, and with 3 lockdowns to contend with, I have been an absolute shambles taking 3-4 goes to get out.
I bought a 70 degree specialist wedge and I play a normal shot and it comes out every time. For example I played today and I was in 6 bunkers but out first time every time.
