Support your Pro in Febriuary

"Car park golfers" will always be part of the game of golf and not really a bad thing

1. They won't be drinking and driving ;)

2. People do have families and other stuff to do that doesn't allow them to spend an extra 1 hour in the clubhouse added on to the 5 hours they have already spent up there. They all still contribute to the club with their subs, comp fees, no doubt hot drinks and food during the road and even before.

Absolutely no issue with any of that - why I focussed on the pro rather than the club. Car park golfers are no different to the rest of us in their relationship with, and use of, the pro. So we can all support the pro at this time if we care to.

I am new to golf and joined my club in November. I have seen the Pro around and he has seen me, but never bothered to introduce himself. I had lessons at another club before joining this one. When I want more, I will probably go back to the Pro at the other club. Like anyone else, Pros have to work to develop their business.

This is an excellent example of what some pros come to EXPECT, and thet isd their problem. a new member shuld be inroduced to their pro ans askede iof they were gewtting advice/leessons elewhere and then build on that! Its his loss mate, keep getting the lesons from wheeere beofre you joined.

which is fine - but don't you think it would be useful to have your coach 'on hand' before or after a round? That said I do know others at my own place just as you, and it is probably good if you are just starting to stick with the coach who has got you to where you are today - maybe then look to change to your own club pro for coaching down the line a bit.

I agree with @Fish - the club should have made sure that you were introduced to the pro - he's not really going to realise - certainly at first - that you are a new member.

I use my pro and he gives me some good deals so not going to buy stuff just because. He has been at the club at least fifteen years so he must be doing something right. We were shut for weeks on end with all the snow a few years back and he survived. We only have 9 open but we are open so he must be getting some revenue

I support three pros

1 - just sold two sun mountain h2no black stand bags through one of my referrals (my club)

2 - just got a course of 7 lessons out of me (local pro)

3 - just sold a motorcaddy through a referral at just under 500.00 ( pro who I got my bag from)

Man I want to be known as St Oddsocks
