Supplementary card question...

Imurg is the king of supplementary cards going from 9-5 doing it ask him he'll tell you all about it. Its a load of tosh same with this ESR cack.

You play in a sweep or a medal and get cut or go up one thats the way it should be. I work shifts so only get about 20 -25 comps a year but our club don't regonise supplementary cards.

How do you go down 4 shots off 9 without shooting 20 under handicap?

As said play in bounce games with your mates or supplementary a handicap sect thats not a clue then boom an ESR kicks in and there you have.

A handicap cut is about playing medals and sweeps when all the field have the same conditions not using the BBC Weather App to pick and choose when the's best ,it a false sense of handicap but whatever floats your boat. I'm a memeber of a traditional club club and thats how golf is played.

I thought the idea behind the ESR system was that general play was not looked at by HS?

Almost but not quite. Two -4s in four rounds would give an ESR recommendation. Three-3s in four rounds wouldn't. There are still issues for Handicap Committees to consider.

Rosecott, do you have any idea why the system of ESR's is not used up here, we only have an annual review at the end of the season, is an ESR cut/review recommended by Congu?

My point was, that I thought the system only triggered a ESR if it was a medal or qualifying competition or a supplementary (declared) round, the term "bounce games" was used, surely that's general play? My HS won't entertain any general play results and rightly so.

So could I just go out and play a round by myself and put a supplementary card, or 5 in, and get a cut???

Do these cards not need to be signed by a playing partner?

You have to declare with the Pro your playing a supplementary round and the other member your playing with has to sign to that effect so you go up as well as potentially get cut.

I think supplementary cards are a waste of time.

If you want to lower your handicap make the effort to play in qualifiers.

Simples

Was introduced as a trial in England (and Wales, I believe) and is expected to be ratified for future use. There seems to be fairly universal approval but it isn't clear yet if it will be imposed on Scotland - apologies to Ireland as I don't know how they stand.
