Opinions about the above grip wanted please.

Recently purchased a scotty cameron red x putter and can't make my mind up on if to put one of these on or not.

Friend of mine has a titleist 2 ball with one on, so I will have a few goes with that in the near future but in the meantime wanted to do some research about the grip more.

Only thing I can really find on the web is the benefit is stopping your wrist from breaking and the negative for some is less feel on ball striking

Anyone who has read any of my posts before will know I'm brand new to the game, currently having lessons and progressing nicely, but as far as any putting traits I couldn't tell you yet

So any opinions to add people!?

Personally not a fan of the fat grips due to that lack of feeling. I know many people that have them and swear by them though.
I just have a Golf Pride Tour Tradition grip on my VP2 (in a nice eye-catching Orange...:D)

Do you have problems with wrists breaking that this would help?

Being 100% honest I don't think so, however my lessons at the moment are obviously working on my swing with irons and woods.

Putting and chipping is really me looking things up online and practicing on the practice green at the club and chipping in my back garden!

Spoke quickly to my tutor about setups etc making sure the basics I have learnt online are correct etc but as far as breaking of wrists etc i couldn't tell you at the moment!

As i said before I recently got the new scotty cameron putter, the 3 rounds of golf I have played before have been with a crappy wilson thing, noticed my distance control is much better with the cameron already.

Lack of feeling in your opinion, are you meaning mostly distance control or face angle of the putter?

I don't like the lack of feeling on off-centre hits (bit like your irons really) you can still hit a duff put and I like to feel it in through the shaft if I do, lets me know if I caught it right or not.
I would probably recommend that you use the putter as-is and see if there is anything that needs assistance before starting to mess with the set-up. From what I gather these big grips are a totally different kettle of fish to a standard grip.

Find out first if your normal grip is ok and if it does need re-gripped you can just fit a standard putter grip (looks better too IMO :D)

thats kind of my plan too, playing saturday so will get a round in with the cameron. grip is perfect condition.

on saturday I can have a go with the fatso on my mates 2 ball putter to see what I think.

like I said purpose of the thread was just for more info on them really, whether they are aimed towards high handicappers (i know KJ uses them on tour but is a general exception to the rule) or if they were really specifically for people whose wrists broke

well, so far I do not think I have that problem, so if its really just for that then I doubt I will be needing one.

things could change when I get round to lessons on putting however!

you are new to the game, just learn about striking the ball and gain experience with normal putters before tweaking anything, would be my experienced opinion. Good luck
