Good Morning,

i am off to play both courses at Sunningdale in 2 weeks. Having never played there before, what can i expect from the place? The website doesn't seem to say much about the place really. Practice facilities, how good the Pro Shops is (prices/stock), no food menu etc.......

Any help from those that have played will be gratefully welcomed

thanks!

Range is good, they have recently spent a bit of money on it improving it as well.

Nice little sort game area behind the 18th on the new is also good.

Shop very nice with some good stuff in it, they do save some stuff solely for Sunningdale members.

Food, if you are on the same package as we are then it doesn’t get any better.

The carvery lunch is just awesome.

Enjoy your day. We will enjoy our 2 days there in July 👌

Oh and both courses are incredible 😉

I was surprised by that, when I tried to buy something I couldn't. Don't think I have ever come across it before at another club and it brought a smile to my face and thought why not.

Had to settle on a straw boating sunningdale hat instead:love: Not cheap but not mega expensive prices iirc. wife and son both bought a t shirt each for reasonable money.

To OP agree with everything LQ has posted. There is a practise putting green by the 1st of the old course. The old course setting and feeling is one of the best I have ever felt. Jealous your getting to play it. Enjoy:)

What were you not able to buy? Never heard of that before.

Two wonderful courses. Excellent lunch and Halfway House. The very best that heathland golf can get. Loads of debate as to which course is the better of the two, but who really cares!! The view from the 10th Tee of the Old Course is one of the best 'golfing views' in UK - and other great ones abound too. There's a great Shell Wonderful World of Golf vid from a long time ago, featuring Faldo and Norman on the Old Course on the Sunningdale Web Site.

Not sure if we went in the normal 'muirfield pro shop', is there one ? as per their email 'We have recently opened a “Merchandise Area” for the first time in the history of the club and look forward to welcoming you.' and we only went in there and it was in the clubhouse and we were escorted to the area/clubhouse.:ROFLMAO:

Only bought a beanie hat at muirfield for the wife at £25, the belts were either small £75 or big £155  and the other stuff was priced at eye watering levels

No pro shop, they had or have the Merch in the Gullane shop, i think with the new alterations to the clubhouse they were planning on a merch area. The pro at Gullane had a deal with them to sell the stuff and they were not in the slightest bothered about it. i think they have seen how much he is making out of selling their stuff and changed their tune;)

This. Simply a fabulous place to play. Great welcome, decent range and short game area and two courses to savour. Add in a lunch to die for and a halfway hut that does the best sausage and onion bap and it's brilliant. It's virtually on my doorstep and a shame I can never get in there

one thing i am expecting is world class service. having played lots in Dubai and other middle east countries they know how to look after you before, during and after the round. I'm guessing the range hs balls ready to go, yardage books and tees available to go etc?

Sunningdale is most definitely not an American style resort course type experience. You are paying primarily for the golf, not the bells and whistles.

I wouldn’t expect anything like you get in Dubai etc and have all the freebies . You can get a few tee’s and pencils but everything else you pay for. The golf course does it’s talking not the service - they do look after you well but it’s all an undertone and pleasant- certainly not the cringe stuff you get at US style places like The Grove etc

There are yardage books available...if you buy them. There are tees and pencils available in the pro shop in bowls. Not sure if they’re meant for visitors, but I grabbed a handful and slid them into my pocket.
I don’t think range balls are free either
