Maybe i'm a sado but if a club doesn't look good to me at address and the over all design i don't give it a second chance, just had a look at GM mag for Feb and seen the new Mizuno Bettinardi putter, how good does it look? Anyone seen it in shops? is it as good as it looks? anyone got one?

Nothing wrong with that mate, You have got to like the equipment your using. Certain people on this forum name their clubs after birds they fancy. (Mine are named after rugby players)

The Mizuno putter looks like sex on a stick, but at £200 so it should!

It's the same with all the clubs in the bag. We all choose something that works for us, but, it has to be pleasing to the eye otherwise confidence goes out the window.

Over the years I've never been one for the likes of the Ping Eye 2s, the Big Berthas etc. They may be excellent clubs, but I just didn't like what I saw at address and that I'm afraid has a lot to do with the way I will play whilst using the clubs.

As to putters, last two putters I've used are the Odyssey Dual Force 2 and one of the original 2 Ball putters. Both have excellent feel but more importantly, I had confidence looking down on the ball at address.

Strange that I couldn't use a big lump of metal in an iron, but a putter is no problem.

Anyway, the new Mizuno putter does look nice, but as I value my life, I think it would be prudent not to buy one at present.

To me Mizuno are all about irons, I would have problems justifying spending a lot on a Mizuno putter when you could get a Scotty Cameron, Ping or Odyssey for less. I know it's just pschological but that's the way it is.

most of us wouldn`t think twice about spending £300 on a new driver ! but we think £200 -£300 is to much for a putter, yet we use the putter more often and that`s where our scores come from! euan

It is interesting you don't say Titleist Birdieman when refering to the Scotty, do you think Mizuno are hoping that customers call their putters by THEIR designers name too?

I have to confess that the titleist scotty cameron newport studio is putting-pornography. If I wasn't so happy with my 2-ball I would have one in my bag as It feels incredible, had a go with one.

Euan, you have a really good point, I know somebody who bought an FTi driver to make himself legal and though that £60 for an odyssey 2-ball was scandalous. He bought a Wilson 2-ball style putter which feels just awful, even he hates it, out of stubborness though he is persevering.

I had a waggle and a play with a few putters today.

Tried a Fischer (I think it was) model and it was brilliant. The right looks, length, weight and balance. When I struck the ball the polymer insert contacted nicely and almost silently. The insert felt very soft, almost like rubber.

It was selling for £80, quite tempted but due to an expensive weekend already, I resisted.

Jon my friend , i had a 2ball and hated it. i got a newport now and almost love it. they are two totally different type of putter. i dont see how you can get on with both ... but there you go. I think i might get a scotty red X3 ir maybe a YES putter.
As MikeH is sending you a Big one, with the money u saved buy yourself a newport! you dont have to chuck your 2ball away!
