Struggling with a high weak fade

Hi all,

I'm looking to diagnose issues with my driver where I am getting a very high and weak fade. To confirm, its not a slice, the ball is starting left of target and coming back fairly gently and not always back to target. I tend to tee up aiming for the right side for the odd shot that starts left and doesn't come back.

I'm fine with the left to right shape but I feel I am giving up some serious distance due to the height whereby I can often hit my 3 hybrid further, especially with the lower flight and roll out.

My ball speeds are between 140-145mph and my average carry is probably 190-200 which from googling id be expecting to be carrying around 225+. Im thinking this is a spin issue rather than me needing to go lift some weights... im 5'6" so I am challenged in the long levers department.

The flight starts fairly strong, rises up and then falls rather than being a penetrative flight.

I don't have a load of cash or time to put into coaching/lessons and am only getting out every 2-3 weeks so I am just looking for some advice on likely causes power loss/flight I can try to work on in the garden and the range.

Thanks in advance

I think it is a slice, and sounds like a bit of over the top with a clubface open to the swing path, possibly with too much of a descending blow too.

Ball speed is good, and it certainly should give you more distance.

Could be lots of things, too much upper body and shoulders, ball position or equipment set up.

Could you get some video? Face on and down the line? What loft and flex is your driver?

Did a bit of that myself, your spin numbers are down. You can address this with your angle of attack and ramp up the loft of your driver.
I watched the Todd Graves videos on the moe Norman swing. Basically this got me hitting more up and in to out. Have a look because he gets you to start from an impact position, and that also sets you on the up. I also rest the club 8”-12” behind the ball and start my back swing from there. It has transformed my driving. But you need to put some time in.

What you need is a new shaft in the driver:devilish:

Seriously it could be something that simple. If you have a low kick point high launch shaft in the driver then that is the flight you may well get.

Generally speaking a fade/ slice shot will always produce a higher shop shape than a draw/hook. Without proper swing analysis there are a number of reasons for a high fade/slice and is hard to pinpoint which without one.

I'd say your swing path is a little out to in, your clubface is open to the swing path and either your ball is too far back in your stance or you are swaying passed the ball at impact.
