Since I retired 15 months ago I've been playing about twice as much golf - typically 3 or 4 rounds a week. And in that time, a weird problem has developed in my right hand. (I'm a right-handed player). Every now and then (perhaps a few times a week), a seemingly innocuous use of the hand will cause a sudden brief spasm (a bit like cramp) in the first and/or middle finger. It's painful for a moment but is gone after a few seconds. I never have any problems with my hands while I'm actually playing - it happens when I do something simple, like reaching for a book, scratching my shoulder, etc.
It's only started happening since I began playing twice as much, so I strongly suspect it's a golfing-related injury of some sort. I wondered about carpal tunnel syndrome, but Googling it the symptoms don't really fit. (The way I read it, CTS causes more continuous numbness or tingling rather than brief spasms, and my thumb is never affected).
Anyone ever come across these kind of problems?
