Stats programs

The site did nothing for my handicap.
I did all the work all it did was tell me what to work on.
As a senior I have lost a bit of distance so wanted something that would keep me as a single handicap player for a bit longer can't believe I'm down to 6 it has been 40 years since I was that low . Now I don't even think about how far I hit it just about how much the shot cost me.

Read every shot counts by Mark broadie, fascinating read on how the 'normal' stats of Fir GIR Pirs don't really tell you anything or what to improve on.

The only problem with scoresaver 2 is that it is only compatible with windows. Can't use on an android phone 😞

Why do you need it on your phone? Just enter your stats into scoresaver when you get home.......and save yourself some cash :D

For stats tracking and insights I use and recommend the Hole19 Golf App.
Gives you driving accuracy, GIR, short game recovery, putting and overall scoring. Sums it up in a nice summary after each round with neat graphs and then you can further check all your stats from all your rounds at home on their online platform "Hole19 Clubhouse".
Oh, and it's 100% free!

Looks like another GPS device with stats bolted on

the GPS stats are ok and are very basic, I've just signed up to GDL which is more cost wise then playingpargolf.com but you get more stats but you have to give more info into the system, It's now about shots gained. Using a table from Every shot counts book, I shot a 1 under 70 in December from the yellow tees, and after working it all out, I was -2.2 shots worse off but that's comparing it to the PGA tour pro table. It depends what you want from stats.

I read an article about shots gained on your golf travel (Ithink). The PGA use his system for putts gained . I just found it a bitconfusing even the editor wrote he didn't fully understand it. I suppose it islike any new system it takes a bit of getting used to. What persuaded me to gothe playing par golf route was their research on double bogey ratio. I had neverheard anyone talk about this or how much it effects your game. My golf club keepsall my scores on line when I checked my scores sure enough the only time I wonor got my handicap cut was when I had no doubles or just 1 per round. I workedout that 15% of the holes I played accounted for over 50% of the shots I wasover par . I did not sign up right away but tried to avoid making doubles on my own . That only made things worse it got tothe stage where every round I made at least 3 doubles, and they could come at anypoint in the round but it was always 3 or more.
This system did takea bit of getting used to but now it is really simple. If I hit a tee shot whereever it lands I ask myself can I get to the green with my next shot if the answeris no then the tee shot cost me a shot if the answer is yes then I mark it as noimpact .If I drive the green (been a long time since I did that ) then it saveda shot I do the same for every shot . The only notes I make on the course isthe distance of the 1st putt the rest I remember takes me 10 mins to record the score on my computer the programdoes the rest
Played this morning Tee shots cost 2, approach shots 7,short game 1, putting saved 2
Still got a bit of work to do on those approach shots.
