Does anyone use stand bags? I'm looking to change my current bag (after 12 years it's a bit worn..!) and I like the idea of the stand bag.

I've got a trolley but sometimes I like to carry my bag and having it stand up when I put it down seems ideal.

Any recommendations? Or should I steer clear and just get any other bag and whack it on my trolley?

Stay clear of the Ping latitude stand bag not very good the two metal legs have a habit of dropping down when carrying and catching the back of your legs.Great clubs bad bag!!!!

Matt stand bags are great and i highly reccomend getting one,you have so many options and of course it comes down to how much you want to spend.Car boots are great if you want a cheap one, otherwise loads on ebay[always check feedback and buy off someone thats got good feedback all the way through. If you want the safest option see you pro shop but it will cost a little more.

eBay is your friend!

I picked up a stand bag (Lynx, obviously :D) for about £7. Bought a replacement (Izzo) strap for £15 and bob's your uncle.

It's worn, but still very functionable.

I want to replace it with a shiny new one at some stage though (probably Christmas).

In answer to your question, I won't use anything else. I've always had a stand bag and will for as long as my body is strong enough to carry one.

I've been half tempted to downgrade to a pencil bag with mini stand (wilson do them), but I like the the multi-dividers you usually get with stand bags.

I mostly carry (unless playing 36 holes) and have a Nike stand bag and it's perfert, pretty light and the double straps are comfortable. I always go for stand bags as they go on my trolley alright too considering. I got mine for about £60 brand new and have had it about 10 months now. The only downside to my bag is when i am walking depending on weight ditribution (i.e multiple drinks in the bottom of the bag) my clubs start sliding out the end if the rain hood isn't on. . .

drawback with standbags on trolleys is that they never really fit. mostly end up fitted sideways so you lose access to one set of pockets.

I have both, standbag and cartbag. imo get the best, lightest standbag you can - after a hilly 18 you'll be glad you did.

I use a stand bag because you can basicly walk anywhere on the course and have your clubs nearby, especially when your looking for a ball in the rough as when you find it your bag is on your back you just whack it down and off you go, none of the bother of walking back to your trolley and then have to look for your ball again!!
Currently using a Nike bag which is about 2yrs old and will probably get another good few years out of it.
Sometime i might chuck it on a trolley (if ive been smashed to pieces at football the day before) and it does tend to twist but just put the stuff you dont need that often while your playing in the pockets that get hidden.

I tend to carry in a roll up but use my GK and large bag for competitions. I tend to get tired quite easily (mainly because of my diabetes and partly through having to walk so far looking for my ball) and so find the trolley helps my conectration on the last few holes. In a roll up I'm not usually too bothered and so if I feel tired carrying I just accept it.

Loads of different makes and models out there. Check out your pro shop and see if you can get a deal on a new one or trawl through e-bay or golfbidder and see what you can find
