Hello chaps, me and a mate are playing in an open on Sunday (only £12 per pair - £6.00 each, and for charity).

The pro said all greens are on and the course is in good condition. Where playing at 2.20, but only 1 pair in our group. If anyone fancies joining us get on the blower and book the other pair slot. He will put a junior out with us if no-one else fills it, but if anyone fancies it get along there.

PM me if you do.

2 x LFC season ticket holders, so if any Man U fans, dont come here to get away from the footy..... but most welcome.

Anyone played it before?

I was looking into this and it was a toss up between Stamford and Lytham Green drive. We ended up choosing Lytham. There was one more tee time available at 14.10, 20 mins after us.

Stamford looked like a decent moorland track after taking a look on their website, but we played it safe choosing Lytham, we've played it before and it's a pretty good course.

I would of liked to of joined you for a game and would of changed but we've already paid at Lytham Green.

Thanks fella, maybe another time. We normally have a regular four, but not this week.

There was a few on this week, Reddish vale was our preference course wise, but my mate didn't fancy an individual open. A few others were 9 hole courses. I looked at Lytham green, but on ukgolfguide.com, it had quite a few bad right ups, Keswick was too far, so thought we'd give Stalybridge a go.

So is Lytham Green decent then?

It's not a bad track, it's pretty flat parkland but it does old your interest on the way round, there's a couple of average holes but on the whole I think you'd enjoy it.

I was surprised when I checked out Stamford,I've played most courses around greater Manchester but I'd never even heard of Stamford and I know it's hard to gauge of a few website pics but It looks a really good track.
It looks similar to my home course and after playing at old links every week we fancied some easy walking flat parkland.

Hope you enjoy it up There, Have a good game!

It's certainly not flat, fella.

No two holes are the same, enjoyed it though. £6 and easily worth £25-30 on a weekend. Very Undulating (hilly for at least 5 holes, but only one heart-attack ridge). Lots of shape, tough in the wind and 3-4 marker posts for blind shots (one a par 3). Nice clubhouse and food, greens were excellent, only soggy off the fairways, fairways were excellent, considering the recent rain. Nice views and the company was excellent.

A nice pint of Hydes Bitter.Well treated by all the staff. Can't ask for more than that.

One Man U fan (top man, and took the result well) and a crackin Geordie bloke, who have also invited us to their invitational. Go the next open, is my shout.

38 points better ball with my partner. How did you get on?
