Staff on the fairways.

Re the tractor on the middle of the fairway out of range.
One of my staff did this when 3 women were on the tee without realising they were three Pros, one of which was Vivien Saunders. Three balls ended pitching around his tractor

Not quite the same but recently a group of four gents (finally) waved me and my partner through but the idiots left their bags in the middle of the fairway, clearly thinking we couldn't hit it that far. Cue much shouting and gesticulating - no way was I hitting until they moved them..... inevitably after all that I didn't catch it properly but it still reached where their bags had been.

Sir Slicealot, methinks you are looking for excuses.

I disagree, but of course, your entitled to your opinion. I was more concerned that i'd end up hitting the fella, especially on the 18th. But as others have pointed out on here, if the staff don't move far enough away, it now won't put me off swinging with all my might. As to wether i can actually get the distance and accuracy right to have a chance of it actually hitting the worker is anyones guess !! :) ;)

Strange H&S ruling in the UK which does not insist on greenstaff wearing hard hats when using machinery on a golf course. I would have thought that it was an obvious thing to do. My staff were advised to wear smart looking American style hard hats but we could not insist that they did. Most now wear ear defenders which I think are a legal requirement.
Many golfers dont twig that a greenkeer using a machine cannot hear a shout of fore, waving your arms or indicating where the ball is going with your club helps.
Most greenkeepers are pretty switched on as to their own saftey.
More clubs are going the sensible route of giving greenkeepers priority. This enables golfers a much faster and hassle free round. I had a wee smile to myself as a fourball on Turnberry Ailsa had to wait about 5 minutes for a young greenkeeper to finish slit tining the other week. If it is good enough for four players paying £1k to play a Championship course it should be good enough for your wee club.
Impatient and irresponsible golfers are the biggest danger.
