I played my first Stableford match a couple of weeks ago and have another on Saturday so I need some clear advise on scoring. I play off 19 and the comp is over 11 holes. Now I remember that there was a SI 1 hole on the course so I got 2 shots on that and one on everything else, so if it was a SI 4 par 4 and I shot a par, would I get 3 points (effectively a birdie)? If I got a bogie on the same hole I'd get 2 points and so on? The guy I played with helped with the scoring but I don't think it would help anyones game to explain this sort of thing when you're trying to play your own game. Thanks in advance.

On stroke index one you get two shots so if you make a par its effectively a net eagle and 4 points. In stableford the points are worked out on the net score per hole (i.e the number it takes you to hole out less a shot if you get one).

The points are

Net eagle - 4 points
net birdie - 3
net par - 2
net bogey 1
anything higher - 0
