Me and Mrs Woo are heading west, staying in St Ives from 1st - 4th Sept and looking to play on Friday 2nd and Sat 3rd Sept.

We stayed in Falmouth earlier in the year and played the Falmouth couse and were able to get a good discount with our Wiltshire county cards.

Any recomendations, prefer courses that are relaxed and don't ask for handicap certs etc.
If we require certs I presume our club will be able to print them off. Currently I am off 24 and Mrs Woo 34 so have to bear this in mind for some courses.

West Cornwall looks good, but is expensive at £37 and £42.

Looking at anywhere within 30 mins drive of St Ives.

If you can stretch to 40mins then I'd say Mullion, down towards the Lizard, or Perranporth further up the north coast. Mullion is a great holiday course - not overly testing with some great sea views while Perranporth is a good links course perched above the beach
I'm told Tehidy Park is good too, but haven't played it so can't comment personally.

Tregenna Castle - remember it fondly as it was the first course I ever broke 80 on 25 years ago!
Didn't tell anyone it was a 3,500 yard par 60 course for years...
Can't remember much about it, but it was quite good fun despite its shortness

I stayed at the hotel (The Tregenna Castle) last year and had a walk around the course. I must say, I was not tempted to get the clubs out - it's a straighforward longish pitch and putt made to attract hotel residents to get out and enjoy the grounds, somewhere to hire the clubs (7i, wedge and putter) and have a thrash with some other non-golfers for a bit of fun.

Having said that, it is is a nice position just above the town and is probably the closest if you are staying central. Fun for an afternoon and have a drink afterwards in the hotel bar overlooking the harbour...lovely!
