I've recently been using SS2 and have had my first proper review of my stat's after a couple of months. Some interesting stuff......

FW% is that of a 7hcap
GIR is that of 2hcap  (aparently a 10hcap should be 30% GIR :D)
Putts per round is that of 15hcap
par saves that of 11 hcap
birdie conversion that of 10 hcap

So basically if I could putt I could be quite good.

In terms of greens missed I thought I'd be mainly to the right, but it's actually pretty even left & right but 40% misses are short :p.

Fairways missed are pretty close aswell 45% left 55 right.

Anyone else get suprising stats from SS2?

Yep, I get a big red box appear that says "Take up another hobby"!!

But seriously, It's the putting that generally lets me down, average of 40 per round, the penalties, average of 5 a round (based on the SS2 system of 1 point per penalty).

However my FIR and GIR are better than my current h'cap. Which did surprise me. It also makes you realise that you are not expected to hit every fairway, which is a big plus in the head.

The feature I do like is the offical stroke index compared to your personal stroke index for that hole. Just because the hole is designated as a SI of 3, your average for it might be an 8 for example.

Key stats for Martin Bedborough (Hcap: 14)

Fairways Hit: 50% (Hcap Std: 11)
Greens In Reg: 25% (Hcap Std: 12)
Putts Per Round: 33.53 (Hcap Std: 15)
Sand Saves: 16% (Hcap Std: 11)
Birdie Conversion: 10% (Hcap Std: 22)
Par Scrambles: 20% (Hcap Std: 15)
Driving Distance: 220 (Hcap Std: 11)
Penalties Per Round: 0.50 (Hcap Std: 5)

Rounds Recorded: 38
Date Range: Current Year: 01/01/2008 to 02/07/2008

On those numbers it seems like I can't do anything wrong but it is only in the last 6 weeks that I've been able to play under my handicap in roll ups and in the buffer zone in competitions.

It is my putting that has been the biggest bonus down from an average of 36+ in February. I now regularly average under 33 putts per round (hence the average coming down) thanks to a lot more time dedicated to chipping around the green and my putting stroke

For a one off payment it really does a great job. Not only can you record all your stats, but it lets you record lessons so you can go back and see what you worked on. You can also record practice sessions and it will show you how much time you allocate to each part of your game. Finally you can also download stats and give them to your pro so they can see what part of the game is weakest and structure a lesson accordingly.

Oh and SS2 will give you a code for a discount!!!

To view Official Stroke Indices v your own personal ones:

On the main screen, select either "Stats Summary" or "Strokeplay" tab and click "Analyse Scorecards".

Now select yourself from the player list at the top and select the course you want to look at from the course list. You might also want to change the date range to All Time.

Now, select the "Stats For CourseName" tab. On this tab, there is a sub-tab called "Hole By Hole": this shows your calculated SI and the actual course SI.

My favourite stats are on the "Hole Comparison" tab: this shows you your eight key stats for each hole on the course. Use this to find out where you are missing fw and gir on your course.

Thanks very much Andy.

I took a printout to my pro today, for my lesson.

He was very impressed with my game stats and thought the programme was very useful.

Cheers
