I have now a few rounds under my belt with my Jailbreak square to square putter.
The first few have been very good, it suits my putting style which is very straight back and through.
However a few pointers for those thinking about going in this direction..
The odyssey’s work but you have to set them up properly. By this I mean no toe up or toe down putting ( not sure if this is still a thing!). My feeling is you have to lie the centre flat on the green.
The next bit is the hand press, basically 2 ways it can be achieved but it has to be done .. the other night I was missing too much and despite lying the sole correctly my hand press was not there.
When I get all of the above correct my putting is so much better …

Anyone else noticed the same things?
Also to others looking at this please consider the above - it will make a huge difference! Or just buy a lab putter 🤣

I bought a #7 square 2 square. Good results at first, but I eventually have gone back to my old ER2.

How much do you want for it? 👀
Probably keeping it for now....at some point the ER2 will likely start misbehaving and I like another putter to fall back on.....the ER2 is heavier than the S2S putter so I just switch to a lighter putter. Sold a few putters a year or so ago and kept my old first version Ping Fetch....I still putt well with that at times.

I've just been sitting here this morning trying to talk myself into buying the Mizuno 925 HL 7 or 8-pw to replace my Eleven brand 8-pw.

I've got a number of rounds under my belt with my S2S now and I'm loving it, as harpo says, you have to make sure that you get the forward press right to get the benefit of it, for me, it's when I can no longer see the white insert.

I posted a video on Instagram the other day and as @Orikoru pointed out, I had the toe up, but the results were still very good. I am having to ensure that I get the head square to the ground but that's more on the way I'm setting up with it and making a slight adjustment to that compared to my old putter.

a bit OT

Have you hit the HL version and the standard 925?
I have the 923 in std and they already go very high, I shudder to think how high the HL version would go

Sounds a right faff that you can’t just line up and hit it.
No I don’t think so, it’s just being aware that if you start missing it’s not the putter .. it’s you.
This type of putter is just eliminating face closing and opening tendencies ( like you I would say just hold it better!) but this was my 2nd foray in zero torque and I do believe I get a benefit. The Axis 1 HM2 putter had me struggling with distance control.. I tried to rectify this but I couldn’t.
I suspect the TM spiders are very good but I don’t like the inserts - and lab is expensive and PXG will be 1/3 price next summer

One of the things that bothers me about TM Spider putters, which I like the look of incidentally, is that when you see them on eBay or similar, the paintwork consistently looks pretty poor. They just don't seem to be finished well or capable of lasting over time. I don't want to be looking down on a putter head that looks battered. None of the other brands seem to suffer from this.

What is a 'square to square' putter? Why is it called 'square to square'?

Nope, I have not hit them.

Ooops, didn't mean to send the other message. But....nope, haven't hit them. You have to take into consideration that......1. I'm not normal 2. I experiment, a lot 3. I tend not to hit a long ball, but everything inside of 140 is where I live or die 4. I'm not a high ball hitter, my current clubs (Eleven hybrid irons) help get the ball up in the air better than my past irons. I like to hit to a certain distance and if the HL is a club that will land at a certain distance and NOT roll much....I'm sold 5. I'm not fixated on a 9 iron (as an example) not going a mile...I'd rather have it go the same distance every time I hit it decently and I can depend on it doing so. If I need more distance, grab a longer club.

I only hit my 50 degree (as an example) 80 yards in the air. Most people I play with hit a good bit further. I don't care. I want the club I pull out of the bag to go a dependable distance. I'm currently 4.6 and 68 years old.....my distance days are far behind me.

As per "not normal"....my bag set-up at the moment. D-5w-7w-9w-11w- 7 hybrid- 8/9/pw Eleven hybrid irons- 50/54/58/64 wedges....and the putter, which has been behaving lately. I don't know anybody with such a psychotic mix of clubs.
