SHOW ME THE MONEY! :D

Another vote for Moneyball as well, very entertaining true story.

Finally got around to watching Invictus... Loved it. Was not a big Springbok supporter, but gave me the goose bumps... Feel for their skip at that time..
I think it gets my vote for one of the better sports related movies out there... Pretty much close to Cool Runnings...

Any other true life sports movies worth a watch?

The actual documentary is better, the work Pienaar had to do to get the team to learn and then sing the new anthem as an example of what he had to do to turn the team around to the concept of the rainbow nation was very impressive

Invictus was excellent - though Matt Damon is a rather titchy Francois Pienaar.

Other movies with a sporting theme...Les Vacances de Mr Hulot anyone? Tennis, cycling, swimming etc ;)

Bull Durham
Caddy Shack
The longest yard (with Burt)
This Sporting life (proper sport :D)
Tin Cup
Raging Bull (Bobby D at the peak of his powers)

Have to say though that whilst i enjoy the smaltz and melodrama of good american sports film, there are others that have literally had me weeping like a baby.

Million Dollar Baby or the "champ" anyone?

:(

Blimey forgot all about This Sporting Life

It looks like I missed a lot of these movies. I like Happy Gilmore, but not sure if it fits into a non-fiction based account. If you stretch that, there is a whole set of fictional movies out there, which are pretty much on the lines of 'The Replacement' or Dodgeball where the hero does not have a team or chance or bunch of hangerons but then goes onto win..

Need to check out Any Given Sunday, Rush. Titans....

Its a bit of a surprise that there is nothing around Cricket.. Back in the 80s, I did see a TV series called Bodyline, loved the whole Jardine-Bradman story.. never saw it again..
