Spain (Murcia) October 2025 Trip Report

Seen some footage yesterday from Quesada near where we used to live, the golf course there (La Marquesa) is basically submerged under water.

Hope you get some golf in before you head home, but on the flip side, at least you haven't spent a small fortune on a golf trip that would have been a washout.

Looks like we will end up with three rounds out of a planned 5 or 6. Courses have refunded in all cases and we now are trying to plan the courses to play. Going to have a drive around to see the best options for tomorrow and have a tee time, with a member at La Serena for Monday.

Just back from Los Alcazares. Played La Vallee on Tuesday and got to the 14th at Riquelme on Thursday before the thunderstorm closed the course and we got soaked to the skin driving the buggy back to the clubhouse. Friday was cancelled and I was marooned in the hotel.

We got the timing very wrong, but who would have known?

Quite a few courses still closed, so in good Spanish fashion, we’ve booked a roast dinner and will go on the lash.

It’s a Bank Holiday here and there’s contamination in the water, closing everything that wasn’t closed already.

To make it worse, we usually go earlier in the year but I suggested going in October so took a bit of abuse from my very wet mates.

That doesn’t sound good. Seems to have been a bit if an odd year. Friends had two separate trips to the Algarve and the Costa del Sol completely rained off early this year and another who has a place in near Marbella said that when they were there in March/April it rained 29 days of the 30 they were out there.

We’ve had grey & windy here, Mojacar. The 3 local courses are open. 1 hour away, only 45 mins to Aguilon @ San Juan de Los Terreros. 1 hour to Desert Springs…

March / April is the rainy season over there. Personally I wouldn't risk going at that time unless it was short notice and the weather forecast looked good.

If it rains in the Autumn, it is generaally torrential for a few days as the guys in this thread have experienced, but in general - the weather is more settled at this time of the year.

We’ve just completed the 3rd day of a 4 day bowls comp. No rain here but they’ve been battered in Murcia. It must be some geographical twist. Murcia/Valencia have had 3 mega storms this year, usually coming in from the Atlantic around Cadiz, angling east north east up through Murcia & Valencia.

Sorry that you copped for some bad weather. Just had last week on our usual Costa Brava October golf trip. sunshine all the way with a couple of breezy days. Emporda Forest and Dunes plus PGA Catalunya Tour and Stadium are outstanding - the latter is hosting the Ryder Cup in 2031. If you give Murcia another go, don't miss out on Las Colinas.

This is so unlucky. I've been down to that part of Spain in October/November many many times, and although we've experienced a bit of wind and rain it's never been enough to cancel golf.

Once went to Barcelona in May and it was a wash out. We managed to play PGA Catalunya but other days were a write off. Frustrating as up until we arrived, Barcelona had been experiencing a heatwave.

I hope you manage to get some good rounds in. Have you considered driving to a different part of the country that's not been affected?

The storms calmed down on Sunday, which was a national holiday, followed by a bank holiday the day after.

We were back Tuesday, so just sacked it and drank them dry of sangria.
