Sort of new shinys

A friend of mine has offered me his callaway jaws cc wedges. Think my mind is made up to take them off him as had a round with them today and was very impressed. Just wondering if anyone else plays with these and their thoughts really. The wedges are gap wedge 52#, sw 56# and lw 60#.

Also in a bit of a dilemma as checked the lofts of my clubs. I have a bit of a gap in lofts.

9i - 41 degree
Pw - 46 degree
Gw - 52 degree
Sw - 56 degree
Lw - 60 degree

So I have a 5 degree jump from 9 - pw and then a six degree jump to the gap.
Are these acceptable differences or have I just over loaded my self with information and should just get on with hitting the damn things!!

6 degrees is ok if it works for you other option is a set of 50, 54, and 58?

You'll know how you go with your current set up and how the new wedges would fit.

Isn't this fairly normal these days. If you want to put your mind at ease, bend your PW to 47.
You'd be OK.

I was wondering if the pw could be altered! Think I'll play a few more rounds and see how I get on first, think most of it is in my head as i know theres a gap. Makes me wonder how I managed with just the pw and sw!!

My PW is 46 and I have 52 and 58 and don't find the six degrees separation too much of an issue

Difference between a 6 degree gap and a 5 degree gap might be significant for Phil Mickelson, but I doubt it would make much odds to the likes of us.

My wedge split is the same as Homer - no issues with 6 degrees. Mashie makes a good point Re: us vrs Phil M. Evesdad, you are over thinking it.
Go to a range with Trackman. Hit all 3 wedges with a full swing and half swing. Thats six approach distances that should fit your game needs

that looks fine pal. work away! people on here tend to get bogged down in these things and it messes them up. me included !

Just a point to ponder - Callaway wedges tend to have more bounce than "normal" when compared to other manufacturer wedges.
This may or may not be a good thing.......

After checking last night my pw has 7# bounce the new ones have 8 on the gw 11 on the sw and ten on the lw.y old lw was consigned to the cupboard but I hit these really well today even the lw!! I'd been struggling recently.

And yes I'm definatley over thinking it the gw fits in nice between the pw and sw and the lob gives me an extra option. Thanks guys looks likes they will be staying in the bag. A bargain to at £90 or less for the lot and they are practically new as he's only had them a couple of months and hadn't even used the lw on the course.

It's not the lofts that are important but the distance you hit each one.

My PW is 47, and my wedges were 52/56/60.

After playing with them for a while I found there was just a little bit too big a gap between PW and GW so I had the 52 bent to 51.
It doesn't sound like much of a difference but it got rid of an awkward distance for me and I'm very glad I did it.

what is the distance gap between them as opposed to the deg of loft?

Not sure on yardages yet as only picked them up on Friday! So far hit a few balls at the range and played one round! Will hopefully get to the practice area this week so I can gauge the difference in distances!! I think I will be fine but good to know, on Friday my pw cleared the green by about 15 yds so on Saturday I hit the gw and cleared in by 5!! But at least I have something interesting to work on at the range!

its good to know the yardages and will def help you.
I have a 47 deg pw, a 52 and a 56.
My pw goes 120/125
my 52 goes around 110 and the 56 goes 95 - 105 if i step on it, so i can cover the yardages ok, it also helps me hitting different types of shot, not just full shots.

Exactley what i was thinking, you play of 26 and you've got all those wedges ,drop the 60 no need ,work on your game then think about club gaping,not being negative just trying to help.

Thats the problem with high handicappers on here they've all the gear and no idea how to use it. I'm no pro and i'll take the flack ,but get a grip.

I agree that the 60 could cause more problems than it resolves, I no longer carry one myself, however, I think knowing yardages is important, if you know that you hit a wedge x yards surely your going to get closer to that said distance than if you dont know how far each club goes?
