Sorry.....laptops

Buy a toshiba, got mine free from uni (not sure which model) but it is now 2 years old and never let me down still loads super quick and performs great. Coming from someone who wasn't a toshiba fan before this.

Ok lets cut the smalltalk and cut to the chase

The only thing you need to do is find a laptop with an Intel I3 (2nd Generation) processor at a price you are happy with

It will come with 3 or 4 Gb of RAM, It will come with a decent size hard drive 320 Gb or 500 Gb.
It will have Windows 7

Take Care, as there are lots of I3 1st Generation deals out there, the way to tell is that a first generation cpu will say something like Intel core I3-370M
The one you want will say Intel Core I3-2330M This is VITAL dont cock it up.

Take a look at this one, yes its a Dell, I like Dell http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-intel-n5050/fs
look at the £379 one, thats good, if you can go to £429 the next CPU up the I5 is a better option.

Other manufacturers I like are Toshiba, Acer & Samsung. I dont like Packard Bell, Hewlett Packard, Sony or Advent

Now the xmas sales are over and the recent hike in hard drive prices is about to hit, i expect retail prices to increase before falling back over the summer

Yes it is, because it should be in a museum

On a slight tangent and apologies for the hijack but HID wants to go wireless and get a laptop rather than me using our old base unit in the spare room. Does anyone know a) what I need to do to install wireless in the house and b) how I'd set a lap top up to connect to the internet.

Do as I did. Ring BT (or substitute your own Internet Service Provider) and tell them you're switching to another provider. They will then offer you a better deal and send you free their latest router. You should get a good deal from any of them.

That's what happened with me and it's £5 a month with free weekend calls.

I got a Toshiba Satellite L730 and its the bees knees, they're about 400 quid I think but its certainly worth the money, I think mine has 4gb of ram, 640gb hardrive, and intel i3 processor and windows 7, I cant think of anything else you would need

Thanks guys
I am not confused at all now!! :D

I think I will look for the minimum spec I need (thanks Fragger) and just go for a reasonable price!
