I’ve been noticing that I am more tired after my rounds lately and me feet in particular have been aching and sore. My course isn’t particularly long or hilly. I am thinking of buying new insoles to see if that helps (memory foam for example)
Does anyone suffer with similar issue and tried new insoles?
Or is it time for new shoes?

Might be worth having a chat with a podiatrist? I saw one years ago and it was the best thing ever - had custom insoles put together. Not cheap, but my legs are not the same shape as normal people, so worth every penny.

Without wishing to be rude.... Is it a combination of age, weight and fitness? (Ok. That does look rude, but may as well address the obvious)

Try sorbothane insoles.

I have problems and change my golf shoes as soon as they stop feeling comfortable regardless of how they look on the outside.

Not rude at all. I’m soon to be 41, in decent shape (33”waist) play regularly and enjoy getting out on my bike occasionally with my little boy.
It seems strange to me that they are aching this much for so long afterwards.
I regularly play 36 hole comps in the summer without any trouble but I’m going to need an ice bath or something this year if this carries on.

Where in your feet are you aching?

Could be fairly simple or it could be more sinister like arthritis. I've had 3 operations on my feet and had bones fused due to arthritis. I did have specific insoles made but hated them. I now wear Super Feet black insoles which are just enough support to keep my feet from suffering from fatigue.

Start with a visit to your doctor or a podiatrist as has already been suggested. Support is key, but it needs to be the correct support.

Holy ***! That sounds awful.its across the whole of the sole of my feet. Can’t say any part is worse than the rest to be honest.
Il try some sorbothane insoles to see if they help, otherwise il try a podiatrist.
I also think il use my electric trolley more often instead of carrying 😢

Could be as simple as fallen arches or a touch of planter fasciitis.

I'd genuinely see your quack or a podiatrist first before buying insoles.

If it’s in your heels then please see a podiatrist ASAP

I ignored a stiff and inflamed heel about 4 years ago.

4 years later I have very bad Plantar fasciitis in both feet.

Agony at times as the soul of my feet feel so tight. Insoles at this stage could help but if you leave it longer you might need more drastic treatment.

I’ve just undergone sonic shockwave treatment in both feet and my calves.

Now. I’m tattooed, one of which is on my foot. Let me tell you that sonic shockwave treatment is 100 tines more painful than the ink gun...

If this don’t work then I’m looking at the injection or worse to try and fix.

Defo get it checked out pal. Might be nothing but I would not wish severe fasciitis on anyone

Without doubt - see a podiatrist. I used to run and got pain in my Achilles heels and calves.
Not the same as you, however after a thorough examination, including a gait analysis, I had personalised insoles made for me. It was like a miracle cure.

I do a lot of cycling and podiatrist told me I had very strong calf muscles and they were overpowering the tendons in my feet.
Some morning I had to crawl to the bathroom as my feet were so sore.
She gave me excersises to do and it’s gone in couple of weeks.
Had to cut back on my bike.
Go see a podiatrist ASAP and find out what it is , then you can do something about it.

I have similar issues ignored it for a couple of years until it became unbearable after and during playing golf. Went to the doctors feeling worried after a self diagnosis and I was right “Morton’s neuroma” had an injection in the worst foot no change actually felt worse after. Got a referral to a specialist they prescribed insoles made specifically for my feet. I wish I had gone sooner the last resort it’s to get the nerves cut out which could make it worse.

Out of curiosity, what shoes are you using? I've found a massive difference dependant upon the brand and model of shoe I wear so I'm now very fussy about what shoes I buy.
I went to a podiatrist with problems with my feet then realised it was down to an old pair of shoes I was regularly wearing. Once I got rid of them the problem was gone.

I usually wear a pair of eccos which are my newest pair, spikeless. But as it is so wet I have gone to my dryjoy or icons which both have spikes. These are older but still in good condition. Perhaps it is the shoes making things worse??

I’m making an appointment with my podiatrist as there is one in my local surgery, the general advice is to get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Shoes in the past have been normal shoes with spikes.
Modern golf shoes while having support and comfort have got flatter especially spikeless ones .
If the shoes are very different they may be causing your muscles to stretch a bit more.

Disability, even minor, is no respector of age. My problems first started to show themselves around my early thirties. Too much pavement pounding in fashion shoes as part of my job.
My company paid for me to see a specialist consultant, inserts made for all my shoes and it went a long way to helping the problem. These days I hardly ever wear shoes that do not have a decent thickness to the sole and good arch support.

It's amazing to hear so many foot issues, who knew!
Sounds like good advice seeing a professional.

I have Ecco Gortex shoes, they were a little too wide (long story, I have wide feet and went too far!) I put some 'Boots' sole inserts in and they have transformed not only the size issue, but really improved the comfort too.
I've only ever occasionally added insoles when the base of the shoes I like, has begun to feel hard and hurts my foot over time. Doing this has extended the life of the shoes, really until I can find another pair I like.

There were 2 sets in the pack and I stuck the other set into some spiked Callaways, same story, much improved comfort.

In hot weather or with new golf shoes, I often carry a second pair and swap them after nine holes. I have soft feet and need to avoid blisters at all costs.

Good luck getting your feet sorted.
