sonartec woods - anyone know of em?

They suit good players

Square to open at address
higher centre of gravity to get a more penetrating flight
good shafts

I hear that Todd Hamilton used a Sonartec Hybrid when he won The Open at Troon, but a lot of people thought it was a TM one because he had a TM h/c on it.

If they are that good mr hopper why have you not got one in your bag??

TBH i dont think you can look past any retailer for decent fairway woods and hybrids all on the market are pretty reliable but to brand a make as for better players is pretty poor its surely what works best for the player.

Hamilton used a Sonartec MD hybrid.

They are for better players because they tend to hit the ball lower, with less spin and have a fade bias. These features are more suited to better players. Some hybrids get the ball up very fast with lots of spin and tend to have a hook bias. These are better suited to higher handicappers with lower clubhead speed and a slice.

Sonartec are not the only hybrid suited to better players, though, but most of the ones you will find in American Golf are for higher handicappers.

Sorry, that is just the way it is.

Happy with the cobra pro baffler i have thanks.

It would be interesting to know what hybrids and fairway woods the Tour players have in their bags, i'm sure Sonartec are still being used, and since Tour players had to buy the clubs (no freebies from Sonartec) must mean something.

The fact that they were designed for stronger and better ball strikers may have been a factor in the fate of the company, since the vast majority of golfers would get on better with a different design of club. But, the OP was from someone who hits it further than most, the very type of player that the club was aimed at.

A bit like the 13 degree Cobra Pro with an X flex shaft in your bag, you have the ability to hit it well but it's not the club you would expect in the average players bag...... :)

The Cobra baffler in your bag is a great club no question but i dont think you can brand a company as a club for better players....

..... i think u can! muira?

Had a look at them on Ethans link and they don't overly excite me. There again they aren't aimed at me anyway but I prefer the look of some of the other models commonly available over here (Titleist always make great looking drivers)
