Apologies to those who already know about this but it's new to me.
WOL or wake on lan
The skill that allows you to turn on your computer with Alexa without having to press the power button on the PC.

The computer boots up to your desk top without you having to go near it
This means the PC doesn't have to be out so you can get to it and if you have one of the 'mini PCs' you can hide it (and the cables) away out of sight. Brill

Nice. I use it to turn the Xbox on. Mainly because the button has tape over because the kids love to play with it

If you mean the computer, it's not on stand by, it's off

Standby / low power mode saving are a complete and utter myth

A TV will use 5w .. not even kw that's 0.005kw a year on standby ....

Got an ALEXA...really called SWMBO....oops, sorry meant ALEX ( STILL called SWMBO )----hope this upsets any Wokey Dokey type dossers
