Mate sent me some pics back couple months ago - looks so different to when i was last there with the Merlins

What are/were you?
I believe Merlins were further down the line? US Marines have pretty much taken over that, its just 2 MERT cabs left on our bit for the last few days, all tents and hangars are long gone.

So sorry for that deep insult

Was TG3 ( TCW and SFC) then TG4 and worked on the Merlin IT system and a bit on the Apache one before i left

Merlins were the IRT whilst i was there and half way down the line

Ha, no worries...only marginally more intelligent!

When was that? DWR post for me so i haven't got a clue when it all changed. Apaches are still down there, usually escort the MERT lot wherever they need to go.

I finished my last 9 week stint in Aug 2012 - was still very hectic there but things were slowing down - hope all the yank food places still hanging around

Are DWR 6 months now ?

I'd say there is about 30% of the boardwalk left here in KAF, its mostly food/drink places left, but then the American Messes are better than what i get in the UK...steak and crab on friday! It is slowing down, i think "they" are too as they've been quiet.

They will be from next year, this was a 4 month-er although i'm doing 5 and a bit...they kindly extended me, didn't tell me, just chucked it on JPA. After this i'll be at the bottom of the list thankfully.

Nah, its something like 60 months now, with this place closing and DWR's going to 6 months its slowed it all down a lot...I don't mid not seeing the Falklands anyway!

I hate that place - so dull and dreary - some good nights in Stanley though and up the mountains used to be very good until the booze bans hit everywhere
