Question for the people with solar for over a year now.
At the end of June, should we have reached 50% of our annual generation, or is the annual weighting uneven?

Very good day today

Imported 11.8 kWh of electricity at 7.5p a unit , plus a standing charge of 0.48p so £1.37

However I exported 19.8kwh at 15p a unit .. £2.97

Hopefully a few more days like this to level out the days I dont export as much .. would be great to have a cost neutral month

Down here in the South West, June has been a pretty ropey month so far.
There's a slight possibility that I may not even generate as much as in May.
Five days left in June and so far have generated 409kWh, compared to 484kWh during May.

We do 14 a day instead of 11.7 we did in May. Sunny London, I have to stop doing holidays in the SW.

That's what I thought.

That's very good

June is touch and go ATM. I'm on the verge of having the first month ever of export covering my standing charge and usage (I use a lot of electricity)

Problem is the hotter days mean the air con goes on to cool the kids down.

However outside chance next month as octopus have just lowered my import from 7.5p to 7p so who knows

Octopus claim I use 6611 kWh but in reality that's all I buy from them , last year I used 9600 kWh but the bill from Octopus at the new 7p rate using the solar and battery would come in at £671 which I think is outstanding . Doesn't include any export , which would be a further £150 off that bill

Darn, didn't make it.

June bills arrived

Billed cost £45.34
Export paid to me £43.71
Total usage 704.5kw
Total cost without system (based on 47p standing charge and unit rate of 25.25p) £192.72
Total savings this month £191.09

Next month the night rate drops from 7.5p to 7, my savings will drop as the day rate I compare with is also dropping but my export isn't dropping so will be interested to see if the export covers the cost. Think this month was My best chance now the air con is on more and school breaks up soon.

1st 6 month of all solar, battery and tariff set up. Usage of 1,300 kWh should have cost me £381 on regular tariff, but overall we got paid £-33 so far, giving us a saving of £414. Numbers without standing charge as that washes out.
Interestingly, LY we paid over £100 each month. Based on that we are saving about £140 a month, or roughly £840 ytd when using similar savings for January and February.

A lot of our actual savings are down to lower usage as well as cheaper tariff. Rather than paying 34p as we did LY we usually import at 16p.
When we opted to get solar the tariff was at 31p with the fear of going back up again.

I also found some annual data. At end of June we should have generated 54% of our annual generation. This would mean we end up on 3,000 kWh, some 10% above what our MCS certificate says our annual estimated generation will be. Based on the curve we had a week February and March, but were really strong since.

Paid a cheque into the bank at the weekend for three months generation. It was for more then 11% of the total installation costs about 11/12 years ago.

I wish we still had our old FIT contract. What are they paying now per unit? Must be close to 70p?

Incidentally, who is your FIT contract with? Getting cheques sounds remarkably old fashioned. We were with EON and they just did a direct bank transfer.

June as per the octopus app
Leccy consumed: £57.27
Leccy exported: £81.54
Gas: £34

Because our meter reading runs on a different cycle, it always has a different number. I have yet to figure out how much money I am ‘saving’ and calculating the payback on the install. My best guess is at the end of the year is going to be about £1k or less

It is a couple of pence off 70p per Kw, the FIT is with British Gas, they ask me every time I give them the reading that it can be paid by direct bank transfer. I am a bit loathe to give them my bank details due to hacking etc.

Don’t worry, your bank details will already be out there… it is not a question of If, but when.

Out of interest what did the DNO guy say was the reason for the over voltage?

Did he recommend installing a SPD (surge protection)?

Just updating on this. They admitted the overvoltage 28th may

3rd June they said they would let me know when they will fix it

11th June I chased. Fobbed me off so I reminded them their responsibility under The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002.

Heard nothing. 28th June chased them again reminding them they are breaking the law knowingly supplying overvoltage (after confirming with ohme it was happening daily) gave them until today (5th July) at 5pm or I would be reporting them to the ombudsman.

As if by magic I got an email 11am today that it's all fixed..

I can see the voltage through the charger is 239 volts ATM. Last week it was resting around 251 and once it got to 254 it would turn off until it dropped back down (wouldn't take long) but it's the principle lol 🤣

Well done…We used to be 240V, now we are supposed to be 230V but in reality around 240 is the norm. If you was close to the Substation then you would be even higher to allow for Volt drop for the peeps furthest away from the Sub, but 250V in this day and age with all the electronics you would expect in peoples houses is ridiculous…Wonder how they reduced it and how long the fix will last?😁

I am pretty much first off the substation according to the second tech (who was brilliant throughout) he told me on 28th may the issue is in the sub and a transformer (that had only gone online within last 6 months) was the cause. It needed tapping down

Just took just over a month to do the work.

Luckily my powerwall regulates voltage anyways so inside the house was always getting a stable amount only the charger wasn't and that protected the cars by turning off if too high.
