Got the mid July transactions on the app. Solar covered the electricity bill including standing charge but only £1 surplus this time. A bit worse than the previous time frame,

Overall bill should be around £10 to cover the gas including that standing charge.
Proper bill should come through in the next couple of days.

They can significantly reduce your electricity bills and are a great way to contribute to a more sustainable environment. Plus, with the various incentives and rebates available, the initial investment can pay off relatively quickly.

July's figures are in (bill cycle from 28th June until 27th July)

Total kWh used 694.5

Bill from octopus £43.61
Export from octopus £32.23
Cost without system £174.67
Savings this month £164.29
Cost of charging cars this month £1.99
Gas costs £18.06 (can't do much about that)

Next month I suspect the bill will be higher as will the car charging as I'm out with the family more and family at home more so usage creeps up

All good though , savings creeping down as price of electricity falls

How do you work out cost without the system. Is it easy?

Well this month is slightly wrong (IE cheaper than it should be as had a change of rate 1st July however just keeping it simple ATM, I'll update my own sheet later)

Anyways I just simply do total used (694.5) which I take off the solar inverter as it measures everything used and times it by the current unit rate for a standard tariff (23p ATM)

I calculate to the 1st, so a few days left to make July not horrible.
Yes, July this year has been dire for solar. There's absolutely no chance it will yield even as much as May, which is unprecedented.
(June wasn't good, either - only about 5% more than May)

July this year for me has been only 12kwh less than last year which wasn't bad

June was cracking here compared to July but not as good as last June

I need 17 kWh over the next 2 days to match May production, or 84 to match June.

Usage is up on May already as my bike was in repair back then.

I guess it depends where you live. I'm in Devon.
May generation was 484kWh. June was 507. With 2 days to go, July so far is 410.

2 days into my billing cycle and my export has covered both days usage, standing charge and charging my wife's car (£1.44)

Same pattern in Surrey
may (700), June (840), July (650)…. With 1 day to go, July won’t beat May

I'm hoping the 28th July until 27th August period of my billing cycle carries on in this way (doesn't need to be this sunny mind)

However past 3 days I've covered the standing charge, usage and the charging cost for the wife's car for the month

If the rest of the month at least covers itself or balances out I could be on for a level month

Rather than looking at the month figures (167 next export for July; about £90 saving.) I updated my favourite excel table for the time being. On the bill it estimates the total annual, I like seeing it coming down.
I wonder how low electricity can go. On current estimates on consumption and generation we will be net exporting over the year. I am also not sure how much is already been affected by the loft insulation for gas in the last year.

I currently pay £90 a month to burn off some of that excess they are holding. I think it will drop to £120 monthly, might be £110 if we are lucky.

Octopus haven’t charged me for import this billing cycle.
I can see in my app that they have data for the 14th of August when looking at daily figures, but when looking at the week or the month it is not there. I guess that’s why they sent an incomplete bill. Kind of annoying, it messes with my stats.

Free leccy hour today from octopus between 1-2.

Planning to run dryer and charge the EV.. so should take it to about 10Kwh.

Q .. I have a full battery, so it will discharge at the same time. How do I disable the battery and just go full-grid. The GroWatt app (ShinPhone) is very useless and there does not seem to be a simple way to take the battery offline
