Rather than looking at the month figures (167 next export for July; about £90 saving.) I updated my favourite excel table for the time being. On the bill it estimates the total annual, I like seeing it coming down.
I wonder how low electricity can go. On current estimates on consumption and generation we will be net exporting over the year. I am also not sure how much is already been affected by the loft insulation for gas in the last year.

I currently pay £90 a month to burn off some of that excess they are holding. I think it will drop to £120 monthly, might be £110 if we are lucky.

Just got the September bill and the numbers stay stagnant. I think they are high.

So far year to date we spent £200 on gross import and the year total is another £200 in standing charges. If we spent another £200 on import I would be surprised.

And non of this is taking into account that we exported for £300 so far.

Random irritation … So I see a spike in leccy usage .. all night it was quiet. About 3 am, I have the dishwasher come on as planned.

Then suddenly around 6:40, there is a big spike for about 5 mins or so.. 3.6Kw .. also another 3.6Kw around 8. By 8 we r all up and around, but I can’t figure out what caused the spike at 6:40? It got smothered by the battery, but still irritating nevertheless. I am assuming the heating may have come on, but that is on gas.

New tariff being published. Peak time export is up, all other export down. All import up as well as standing charges.

Over the next 3 months, I don’t think we will export anything on peak.

Importantly for me the night rate has stayed the same so the increased day rate 95% of the time doesn't affect me

The standing charge however adds about £10 a year to my tariff

I can live with that

I don’t know yet what Q4 looks like in terms of usage and production. Obviously, some generation and night charging is taking the edge off, but I would have thought that if all import windows are increasing then so does the export.

What’s your EV tariff moving to?

7p at night (from 7p)
Day rate 26p from 24p (I bearly touch it)
Standing charge up like 1p a day

It predicts my bill will rise £11 a year however that's based on last year touching the day rate now and again where as now I have 2 extra hours at cheap rate and I can plug in to get more cheap rate sometimes so I doubt I'll use as much day rate as my battery has 2 less hours a day to cover

How the hell can Ofgem put the standing charge up yet again?
It's been nearly a year since they asked for feedback from customers, and received a tsunami of comments that the standing charge was too high and penalised people who were limiting their usage.
And yet they have still put it up (presumably so they can limit the headline unit rate).
It's nuts.

Our bill was £37.10 charged and £53.60 exported with consumption of 149.7kwh

Will be our first winter. I won't have appliances on overnight when we are asleep though. Currently charge up between 02:00 to 05:00 so may have to extend this.

I am assuming that the 176 is based on 24p.. if so then you can’t use it. Since your actuals now are split between day and night. And hence you should also look at how your load and therefore tariff will spread.

Otherwise you are not comparing like for like. Either way you will be in credit but not just as big.

It's based on the standard variable as it always in, will be updated this month

That's 23.08p a unit

The lowest fix on octopus is more than that

It is like for like

(Intelligent octopus is only 1p a unit more day rate Vs the variable btw, it would be £186 saving if I used the day rate.. which is why I don't use this figure and never have.)

I do the same math because without solar and home storage that is what we would be paying.
Doesn’t really matter what it is because it’s paid and we won’t get money back even if the math changes.

So, today is the 1st day ‘of winter’ where we pull from the net before the cheap tariff window. Just running the house from the grid right now.
Big morning use and we just never had the solar to top it up again.
Dishwasher is set to start at 2am, but I just can’t bring myself to charge bike batteries at night time.
(5kwH battery with 15% reserve we don’t touch)

Went to my dad's yesterday, he's starting to touch the day rate. Luckily I noticed he still is on eco 7

Now I been trying to convince him to leave octopus (I know. Shocking behaviour) but eon offer eon drive which is 7p at night and 16p export. Now he doesn't have an EV so can't get on octopus' electric car tariffs but eon drive you can go on with a battery ..

He won't have it lol .. but Eco 7 will still save him a bit .. it's currently 12p at night so he will save 12p a unit.. better than nothing

I programmed his battery to behave like mine and he reported this morning it was full when he woke up. So that's good. They will now buy every night at 12p per kWh and if they do export happy days

Hasn't cost him too much as he only had the system installed this year so been reporting all summer

My batteries are now running down before EoD and also importing on day rates... does not help with Dishwasher every day and a washing load on alternate days. Also the BMW car software update means that Octopus has lost control of charging the car. So it does not seem to charge at night. I need to set it up again... bloody painful

Which charger have you got? I thought you had a compatible charger ?

Can you not dumb charge every night instead and just smart charge once a month as per the terms

I can do either/or not both.. So i let it dumb charge and not worry about Octopus.. or i let it smart charge. been smart charging it becase sometimes during weekends, i get some free leccy during the day.
but if BMW continues this nonsense then i will have go to dumb one.

Id go dumb charge for a bit. Just force it to charge at night during your cheap hours

Sod the extra hours.

Tbh it's why I went ohme charger. The software from cars to be controlled is pretty crap. But the charger software is very good

Ohme been faultless

September was awful

For what we have used we should have paid £50, we do get paid £7, so a saving of £57.
We only generated 117% of what we used, lowest since March.

When did the saving sessions start last year? Was it October?
