Following on from the help received from forum members about calculation of index when the soft cap was reached I have another query.

The Scottish Golf App is showing my low index as 10.8.
I understand the Low Index relates to your lowest Index in the previous 12 months.

This was superseded by higher scores from May last year but has not changed on the App.

As I’m about to get to 13.8 (or higher) I’m concerned that my index will be calculated based on an out of date Low Index and will therefore be lower than it should be.

Any help greatly appreciated

I'm not sure I understand your situation. You say your Low Index was superseded by higher scores from May last year. Two points: (1) We are now in June so anything that happened in May last year is more than 12 months ago and hence irrelevant to your current Low Index. (2) In any case, HIGHER scores within the past 12 months will not impact your Low Index. Only lower numbers than your Low Index will impact (i.e. further reduce) your Low Index.

Your Low Index is not going to increase until 12 months has expired from the date of your current Low Index.

The Low Handicap Index is only re-calculated when a new score is entered. This happens every time, and it will always be correct.

Thanks to both responders

My lowest index in the past 12 months is 11.4

I have recorded 5 rounds since the anniversary of the 10.8 low index

It sounds like it could be a software display glitch!

The adjustments based on my last 5 rounds appear to match my calculations

I can’t think of a reason for that- best to ask SG. Or maybe ask your handicap secretary to check what the CDH index shows.
