This is an issue we had. Three years ago now when we moved into our place, we needed a sofa. Our lounge is kind of long and thin, and the TV being at one end, we were after just one L-shaped sofa so we could set one side against the wall and the other side facing the TV. All of the major shops we went in, like DFS and all that, even the smallest L-shaped sofas were too long, and would have given us about 10 inches at most between the end of the sofa and the stairs to get past. We ended up ordering one from a website that sold some more compact sofas, which came in three pieces that kind of slot together after they've been delivered - which meant each piece was easy enough to get through the door as well. I can't remember the name of the website now. (Edit: Found it on an old email, it was simplystylishsofas.co.uk )

This simplysofa looks very interesting.. it might have some options for us. So may pay a visit during the bank holidays - though it is way too far north. The price worries me .. am I buying something ‘too cheap a quality’

We never went there or anything. Literally just gambled and ordered one lol. We've been happy with it. Our one has leather seating, and faux leather everywhere else like the back and the bottom bit (saves cost I guess?). It's comfortable but firm, which is good as I hate sofas that you just sink into over time. And it's still comfortable & firm now three years on.
