• Thank you all very much for sharing your time with us in 2025. We hope you all have a safe and happy 2026!

So which are you ?

Well, if we are gonna get all technical .......

I've just got myself some Woly Shoe Cream to do the job properly, Footjoy make it too but I couldnt find anyone selling it in the Uk.

Apply carefully with a cloth after a good clean, rub it in well, and then buff up, makes them look the dogz again.

I got some Classics when I was in the States last October, and have even been applying Leather Oil to the soles as advised by FJ to hopefully keep them totally great nick

I need to get out more.......

Always clean the clubs and shoes after a game, even clean the gear after a sat game if i am playing on sun.

Use Dubbin on the shoes, keeps the leather supple.

I always try to look quite smart, and my shoes are always clean, I to swear by baby wipes, not sure what I will do when the little ones grow up.

I think a tidy golfer is all thats reqired in the respect stakes, but I also think someones game, regardless of attire should be respected too, some of the best golfers I have ever played with were not extreme in either direction with their attire and presentation, extreme at both ends of the range doesn't mean they will be dodgy charactors but in my experience are worth suspecting? :D

Not too clean, but not filthy either, and as long as the shoes are a pair, and not two left ones.

Clothes? Anything really. A friend of mine has accused me of having more golf gear than anyone else he knows, but none of it matching.

I always make an effort with what clothes I wear. I have numerous pairs of shoes. Thing is over the winter I'll have a pair I can just throw into the boot & not worry about cleaning too much, other than the surface muck, when its going to be muddy. Every other time shoes get cleaned fastidiously, before or after a round.

Look smart, play smart- mind you I'm a total tart.

And babywipes for cleaning - will clean anything off anything - sticker residue shouldn't be an issue Bob, even use them to clean the drips of gloss of everything when HID goes painting.

Not that I work for Johnsons and Johnsons or owt...

Got to say, depends on the game. If I am playing a comp, forum event, away course etc, Everything is sparkling, and my shoes polished to CPL Brisley's standards(very high)

If I have finished a round Monday and know I am back tuesday, I will blast the shoes with the air comp' and wipe em with towel, will still look clean and shiney and put em away in locker. The clubs will get a wipe clean but not the full treatment. That happens on a Wed when I am due back in work for the rest of the week.

For all you smart people out there, a genuine question.

Don't you find that when you see a strange ( as in new ) golfer turn up on the first tee, with all the clobber, looking shiny and spotless, you watch him more closely than you might ? Expecting him to be a good player, ?

So when he duffs his drive 50 yards into the right rough you silently ridicule him for his idiocy ?

Or is that just me, then ?

I prefer to look as understated as possible - as unlike a golfer as possible. Then if I manage to only half top my opening drive 150 yards down the middle, I can wander after it without being laughed at too much.

Sort of reverse psychology, I suppose.

:D

There's a lot of difference in being neat and tidy and looking like a ponce
;)
