I'm our Comp Sec, and put a comp on Sunday that we I ran last year, but was pursuaded to make changes as to play it as it should have been would mean members "wouldn't play in it". This year I stuck to my guns despite our Pro changing the format of the comp on our website to read the same as last year. (I had to get the club Sec to change it to what I had specified, I kid you not). The start sheet was quickly filled after being put up, which sort of gave me some optimism that everything was going to be ok. Afterwards in the bar, there were some jokey comments, regarding the format, mostly from the ones it appears will have won it, but everyone I had spoken to enjoyed the format and the day.
The format? I don't know if it has a name, but it's the one with a three man team and for the first 6 holes the best net score is taken. For holes 7-16 the best TWO net scores are take. Then for the final 6 holes ALL scores are used. This makes it two rounds of golf. The leaders at the time I left were on 129, 11 under.

Good format👍

We call it a Dubai at ours played in 4-balls with two to count on first 6, three on next 6 and all to count on last 6

One of my three didn't turn up, so me and the other fella had a pleasant knock round together. I didn't think we'd have a hope as he plays off 28 and only scuffs it 100 yards off the tee........but the ground was hard and the ball was rolling a long way. The tough long holes he had 2 shots on and net parred them all. Then of 16 rolled in a par for a net eagle. The bloke that didn't turn up for us is going to get a rocket from me!

Most place I have played know it as a Rolling Bowmaker.

We often play one score on par fives two on par fours and all scores on par threes.

Sixes for us is a pairs game. Better Ball on first 6, Greensomes on second 6 and Foursomes on last 6.

Good fun comp - we've played it when the last 6 holes the nett points are multiplied...one blobs we all blob!!
