Me and my pals took part in the Mcmillan cancer longest day golf challenge yesterday.4 rounds in 1 day as youv know. So we played. Ardeer.bogside.west kilbride then finish off at our hone course of largs where we are meners. Now the first 3 courses we enjoyed very much. The clubs went out there way to wish us good luck and moved tee times around so we could get out earlier. We arrived at largs at 5 oclock. T off for 6. Abdy the pro at largs(great guy) managed to get us out at half 5. So by te time we got clubs and ready we had 15 mibs to tee off. Went into lounge and spent £10 on drinks etc. My playing partners took there sandwiches in with them to eat quickly before our last round.

My oh my how we were frowned upon. First asked off other members cockily who done your catering.are you members.you shouldnt be eating that in here.eeryone will be objecting to it.emdidnt give a **** about the charity event we were taking part in.

***** to the highest order.

Rant over haha

Bit of a downer on what should have been a great experience for a very worthwhile cause. But, what if everyone took their own food into the clubhouse ? What would happen then ?

They have a point but they could not have known your circumstance, I think if they had known you were doing four rounds and you had to be organised and keep your energy levels up and all that good stuff they may not have said anything.

Very well done on what you achieved. Was it hard work?

Um, no.

Eating your own food or drinking your own drinks whilst inside any establishment that serves them is rude.

Yes hence why i never done it. There is way to ask questions. And talking to 30 year olds as if they are kids isnt the way

Ill go with this, I think there is way of talking to people for sure and as hinted at previously I believe you had extenuating circumstances.

I was a member at Large for a few years and have to agree it was a very unfriendly place, full of coffin dodgers waiting for the next sky ride.

An awful lot of ignorant old so and so's. They have a cheek to complain, none of them ever used the bar or catering when I was a member. Just golfed and pissed off after holding you up for 5 hours. That and the abortion of a 10th hole drove me away.

As well as being snobby they are also not very good at training Greenkeepers.
About 10 years ago the HGK was on holiday and one of his staff sprayed total weedkiller on the greens.

Funny thing was it was the HGK who was sacked.

Thats because what you have heard is not entirely true!

Pray tell, I was a member there for a good few years, have to say andy (the pro) was a shining light at the course, always helpful and cheery.

Biggest problem was the 5+ hour rounds, 4 ball after four ball of 80 year olds, who wouldn't let you play through if their lives depended on it.

Kenny D!

Gentleman. I was under the impression that the headie was the one who left the chemicals out for the others to spray! He was the one who prepared the mix.

May be a load of cock and bull but that was from a decent source. I enjoyed Largs when I was a member, lovely course but its full of old A-holes waiting on God calling them. Also hated that it was so so so busy with the old retired farts during the day!
