After reading the "5 minute to find your perfect putter" article I clicked a couple of other links on the page, and found this one about wedges.

I thought I knew what was meant by slider or digger, but I was wrong.

I think this will surprise quite a few people, and lead to lots of one-handed chips on the practice ground or garden this week! :)

lol when my short game is at its lowest ebb I revert to one hand and have a much better short game using just my right hand, just dont feel right chipping one handed full stop. I know my left hand is completely destructive to my pitching chipping and most of my recent practise has been keeping it on the club but not active

Self confessed "Digger" here.....
Iv been known to unearth whole family's of worms......And my playing partners are always having a skit about my wedge play......They reckon at times id be better off with a spade :):):)

Iv taken divots that can be 8-10 inches long and a half inch deep

I'm usually a digger but can be a slider to, my wedge play is superb it just depends on the lie to what shot I play, I like a nice low biting ball flight for pitches, and "digging" produces that for me

Bit of both really. I don't like using too much loft on chips and like to see the ball roll out rather than 'check up'. I'd like to think my short game as being one the most natural parts of my game.

I always thought it was about your divots with full shots until I saw this.

Definitely going to be trying a few one handed chips next time up the club. I need an excuse to buy new wedges as I'm not that keen on the Nike ones I have now.

I miss my Vokeys :(

we subscribe to a Dave Pelz/Stack-and-Tilt style

......... nuff said

I do both depending on the shot, probably more biased to being a digger in general. Seems to be ok as long as you don't deaccelerate, but then that's probably the same for both styles.

you cant be a digger around links course i found. took me about 9 holes to catch onto this the last time i played one.

Call yourself a digger ? My divots can be two inches deep and that's with a five iron.:o Had to stop chipping in the garden for obvious reasons.:(

Newbies tend to be sliders. Then they improve and become diggers, then they improve and can do both.
There is one more type but it takes a fair bit of practice and nerve and a good lie.
But as most of you dont practice, I'm not telling you  ;)

A Bouncer Bob? I've been practicing! Off our rock hard fairways on the links i'm learning to use the bounce to pop the ball up, that's what it's there for after all
