Anyone played it recently and know what the conditions are like?
Thanks

It's notorious for being a 5hr place. There are better places up here to play but I get that the package and pricing can be tempting.Plus We had 2 very slow rounds.
We played South Shields last April. Sodden at other courses but it was in really good condition. Very nice course and friendly clubhouse. Well worth a visit. It's notorious for being a 5hr place. There are better places up here to play but I get that the package and pricing can be tempting.

Just had feedback on another forum who played last week and seems to be drying outCouple of my mates played it a couple of weeks ago, said it was a bit boggy in places and they had just hollow tined the greens. Has probably dried out a bit since then.
Still quite a few parkland courses around here that are struggling. I know my old course 2 mates played on Saturday and they said they don’t think qualifiers will be on for another few weeks as a couple of the holes still haven’t had the fairway cut as it’s still too wet.Surely it will have dried out by now?
South Shields clubhouse has just had an extensive refurbishment & is now the "1893 Bar & Bistro". Course is very dry & looking goidWe played South Shields last April. Sodden at other courses but it was in really good condition. Very nice course and friendly clubhouse. Well worth a visit.
Because of the refurbishment we had to use the "snug" last week. It looked as if it was last decorated in 1893.South Shields clubhouse has just had an extensive refurbishment & is now the "1893 Bar & Bistro". Course is very dry & looking goid
I played yesterday. All the fairways have been cut, and the greens are looking the best they have for a couple of years. Still a couple of boggy areas, but it’s miles better than it was a week or two back.Still quite a few parkland courses around here that are struggling. They actually found a fireplace from the early 1900s when they took the cladding off the wall. They incorporated it into the design.Because of the refurbishment we had to use the "snug" last week. It looked as if it was last decorated in 1893.
Welcoming as ever though.
Great to hear. He was saying the 17th on Saturday wasn't in great shape but that has been soaking wet all winter. He did say the greens that were on had been good but probably because they have barely been used since October.I played yesterday. It’s funny the difference a few days make. Could see a big improvement between Tuesday and yesterday. 17th was fine, no plugged drives for a change!Great to hear.
