yes that's the site eagle/htl - I went via caddy.co.uk but it takes you there anyway.

sadly not for me, got to get some work done on the car and if there's any spare I want to be going to Goswick.

I haven't bothered. I just clip mine to the glove rail (one of the reasons I bought this bag) on my bag, and it takes it's chances. The rest of the time it lives in the valuables pocket, so it is not on view if I am not at my bag, (for instance on the putting green).

check the size of the screen, go to the Cambridge Market and buy a pack of mobile-phone/pda screen protectors for a fraction of the price.

Good point! I doubt they will have them that small, but its definitely worth a try though. I was just unsure as to whether I will need the cart mount (to mount to my electric trolley- apparently they fit) or the travel case thingy. I think I will wait until I get it though and do what you say. And then go from there if I think I require the other accessories.

well its £34.99 on its own, or £50 for one of them, 6 screen protectors , a case and travel carrier thing. I will now wait until I have used it and see if it is worth it, because I must admit all the people I know who have one already just pick it up from their bag and look at it- I'm just thinking of being lazy :D

Because mine is clipped to the outside of the bag, I don't even have to unclip it. Just park the trolley up next to the ball, a quick look at the magic box, grab a club and off. I only un hook it if I am playing somewhere new, and need the bunker info type stuff, which needs buttons pushed.

As for others on here debating on whether to buy a 2.5 or not I suggest having a look at this. Some interesting comments from people in regard to the SG5 being a waste of money in comparison also- one bloke claims to have bought an SG5 and then when the 2.5 came out sold his 5 as the 2.5 is smaller and lighter and he says he likes it just as much and that the color is a needless all be it nice gimmick. Which settled my gauging nerves about perhaps feeling I need to upgrade once I have used it for a while.

Isn't the cart mount scary expensive? As in half the price of the gadget itself? Defo not for me.

I have one of these my friend.

4 times less money and does exactly the same job. They do them for the Powakaddy and the Motocaddy. I have the one for the Powakaddy and it works a treat and only £8 all in!

Basically its a bracket that screws into the trolley (screws included) and it sits to the left of the trolley handle so you can pull up by the side of your ball look at your trolley and heh presto yardage. If you want me to I can try and post up a photo?

That is great Peter but it doesn't say anywhere about fitting a Powakaddy which is what I have! A Picture of the exact fixing mechanism would be appreciated as even my powakaddy isn't the same as most of the range- eg you can't fit the umbrella holder on mine very easily.

Cheers

Skycaddy do all the measurements with military quality satalite recivers, so less practical issue with possible errors that cheaper mapping may give. From the other perspective Caddyaid do all their mapping with very expensive military quality cameras from a set height from the air, so likely to give similar accuracy.

The Sonocaddy certainly looks good in the review, though not as yet heard enough about it. What if any is the subscription to download courses this is important. Pity it was an american site I've just found to read about the range they do, but it does look impressive.

I looked into the Sureshot, but it didn't seem to cover the courses I needed, so unfortunatley that's out.

I think for the O.P. the SkyCaddy is perhaps the best solution, especially as he only needs a few course so the yearly subscription would not be necessary other than the initial downloads & the version 2.5 is more than adequate.

I'll be looking further into the sonocaddy, but its still an expensive proposition.

I took delivery of my SG 2.5 this morning (I thought it was coming Thursday but the sooner the better were my feelings) and after rushing to set it up within 30 mins before I had to leave the house and leaving it on charge I arranged a round in the afternoon in order to test it. And I absolutely loved it. I hit 13 green in regulation but my putter was acting as if I had left it in the freezer over night so my score never reaped the benefits but I still managed 39 points so I was happy ;) I really don't think I will ever play without it now, golf is definitely more fun without the guess work and with a device you can trust. The £29.99 to subscribe was a bit annoying, I was expecting to be given a trial course download or something but was half expecting to have to cough up so I did and put 10 of my most likely to play courses on there.

Now comes the bad news...(and it will probably only make sense to those who own a skycaddie) the clip thing that actually slides onto the device (the thing with the round bit on it that then fits in the belt clip etc) had the small rectangular bit which has a groove on allowing it to 'click' in place broken with just normal use of clicking it back onto the belt clip- so it now won't secure itself! I am going to try and glue it but can see this being unsuccessful and I may have to send the lot back just to get a new one which will be a pain.

Overall though I am ecstatic with my purchase and would recommend a skycaddie to anyone and everyone.
