SkyCaddie Service.

So, finally managed to get caddiesync working on my Work PC, but I need it working on my mac. Guess I will try again tomorrow with Tech support. The main thing I was worried about was ensuring my membership was activated, and according to the online portal, it is registered with my Eagle membership. I have downloaded my holiday courses, so looking forward to using it. Shame the weather looks poor tomorrow, otherwise I would take it out for a hit in the morning and see how she performs

I know you've said you'd rather sync it connected to your Mac, but just in case you were under the same impression that I was...

I thought it was a case of either syncing via computer, or finding courses one at a time via the unit.

I since found out that I can manage everything to do with my account and courses via the website, then sync the unit on wifi and it makes all the changes to itself.

Just in case... :)

Got a feeling that will be the way to go. I'll have a play soon, not found the manual sync option yet anywhere. Still trying to get used to using it. I would like it to track my stats though during a round as well, so wanna make sure that is quick and easy

Love SkyCaddie, their customer care is amazing and have really looked after me since day 1 with a replacement if something has gone wrong and then helping with setting it up.

SkyCaddie is a great piece of kit but how on earth they can justify a *subscription for their course maps baffles me - considering that with so many other units this comes as a free service.

*Haven't checked lately but last time I did it was around £30 a year. If this is no longer the case then I apologise for my error.

It's a free service for all the others because they can't guarantee that the courses you play can be be updated as soon as they are advised of any course changes as only we walk courses and rewalk them immediately as advised of further changes. You get what you pay for, simple as that.

This may be true, but I've had a Garmin device for four years now and I have yet to be disadvantaged even once as a result of any course changes. That's not to say that one day I might not come a cropper, but at my level, and indeed most likely the level of the majority of club golfers, I might just have to resort to figuring it out by eye on that particular day, as we all used to have to do not that long ago ;)

Of the courses that I do play only one was re-modelled and I simply synced my device and...happy days, all good to go again with the new layout.

So personally I'd be £120 worse off by now and would not have had a scrap of benefit in being with SkyCaddie.

But I do agree SkyCaddie is a good unit, it's just that I think the subscription for maps is an attempt to flog us a bit of good old snake oil.
