I see they have updates the way you connect to the interweb to download courses.

TBH, the new software is pants.

It is slow, awkward to use, and the course finder is now worse than useless. I have tried to find Goswick links, which I have found before, but now can't, and if you live in Surrey, you are stuffed, as it no longer exists. I click on Surrey UK, and get Surrey USA.

Annoyed, yes.

They have taken the best gps on the market, and ruined it.

Dont say that Murph, I have yet to put Goswick on th SC.

Maybe a quick email to them will give them enough time to sort it. Just mention the most Epic of Battles is about to take place and the sky caddie the Lee Enfield of the show!

It is under Goswick Golf Club, but I have still lost the whole of Surrey.

I have registered a fault with Sky golf, and will see what happens.

Was this an optional update? In which case when I next go to load a course and am offered it I shall be rejecting it, unless you find they fix the problem and it is actually better :D.

I think you have to download their new super duper rubbish sync thing in order to connect now, but anyway, just firing up the course search at Skygolf.co.uk is enough to eliminate Surrey. I have registered it as a fault, but I doubt much will happen for months, if at all.

I have just looked at it and see what you mean, having to find your course on a map seems stupid- the older system was far more efficient. Fortunately I haven't got any new away days planned for a while so hopefully they can sort it out as I don't really want to use the new system which does look very un-user friendly. I can't be bothered to download the new sync thing anyway at the moment. Good luck with sorting yours out.

In the sync program you can still find your course on a list, but it seems very fussy with the spelling, not really offering any alternatives. You also need to search by county, so you need to know in advance where the course is. It is no where near as friendly as the previous version.

I read the thread and thought oh no better go check this out. Went to their homepage clicked on the update connected skycaddie picked a course downloaded it no problem boy you had me worried for a while.

I agree with murph, it's clumsy; the map icons are too big and hide a lot of courses, nowhere near as user friendly.
Even searching by list isn't as easy, not as many filters so way too dominated by US courses.

If anyone has found a way to filter on Europe please let me know.

What a pain in the nether regions this is!!
Just put Ascot on my 2.5 in readiness for the meet and it took me forever to find it!

When I first got the 2.5 I put the 5 courses I regularly play on in about 2 minutes. This 1 course took nearly 10.

Bloody Yanks.................

How did you find Ascott in the end mate, as I can't get any Surrey courses at all. I was looking for Milford, but no chance. I casn get any other county, but not Surrey.

Help.

Ascot is in Berkshire. I just downloaded Lydd where I'm playing with Medwayjon on the 28th and had to go through the whole download of caddysynch. I have to say I didn't have too much trouble finding the course or deleting Princes.

It seems to be case sensitive. If you put in milford or surrey it can't seem to find it. But Milford Golf Club in Surrey, United Kingdom is there.

Oh and Ascot's in Berkshire!!

Ok, I tried this on two different computers this morning, with no luck at all, and then registered a fault with Skygolf.

I have now done it at home on my notebook, and I have access to all of Surrey, (and Berks) and have uploaded Milford and RA.

I can only assume they have fixed the fault.

If so fair play, but I still think the old system was better

The fault seems to be with the area search facility. If you enter the name of the club and then in the next box instead of the town or county, put the country, is seems to find it OK.

It still seems very sensitive, be it caps, or county, or what ever, it used to be bomb proof, and now is fragile, it is not an improvement.

Sad.

Stil a good device, but hampered by bad softare unfortunately.

If I key in surrey, I get a choice of Surrey UK, or Surrey USA, which whatever I pick gives me Surrey USA. But if I type in Surrey, then I still get Surrey UK or Surrey USA, and if I pick the UK option, I get the one in the UK. Great, but a bit pedantic.

Have just updated my software and downloaded Chartham Park in readiness for the meeting next Thursday.
Everything seemed to go well, except all 18 holes are showing as stroke index 10!
I'm aiming for a 42 pointer

;)

PS Can anybody locate St Georges Hill GC in Surrey? I've tried every search criteria I can think of but no joy... :D

Re: SkyCaddie direct sync - more queries

I think I've downloaded the new sync software but now can't sync my SG2 - if I try, the system just keeps getting part way then freezes and hangs - doesn't matter how long I leave it. Only way to get out is to cancel using Task Manager. Also I can't log in to my account - again gets part way then freezes. Anyone had similar?

(One thing I've noticed is that after supposedly downloading the new stuff, although I have a new desktop icon called CaddieSync, it's properties still say it's a shortcut to SkyCaddie Desktop - and in the programs list the program is still listed as SkyCaddie Desktop - not CaddieSync or anything similar. Be grateful if someone who's successfully using the new Sync stuff could see precisely what their program list calls it? May be that I'm not successfully loading the new stuff??)

Re: SkyCaddie direct sync - more queries

Yes, It is listed as SkyCaddie Desktop in the programs list.

You did download the correct flash file for your model of skycaddie didn't you ?
