Sky coverage of LPGA!

Just spent the last 30 minutes watching the LPGA event on Sky. So far seen about 6 actual shots on the course, and the rest has been British and American (includes Annika Sorenstam) talking heads and adverts. Do people actually pay subs to watch this rubbish?!

Nothing Sky can do about the feeds. Just turned it on and it seems not much different to the mens coverage

Sky will have onsite people and do some filler in some of the US TV breaks.

Like the men's coverage, the pictures are supplied by the US channels, and we all know how much the Americans love an ad break.
Sky are normally quite good at the majors, and sometimes control their own pictures...but it's just the way. At least the LPGA is getting some air time

HID has an unhealthy obsession with KOTC, so much so that our trip to Wentworth last month was tainted with disappointment that we only got to see Wayne Riley...

I subscribe to Sky and in fairness they do their best given the feeds they get from the USA coupled with their business model (dependence on advertising revenue) but this wider issue is a precursor to the inevitable misery that will blight us all when they have The Open from 2017.

I have watched the Beeb's coverage since the 70s and still feel sick that The R&A have sold the rights to Sky.

Shame on them just for the sake of making a few quid extra.

This opinion Is so short sighted. The BBC offer nothing to golf at all. The R&a made the correct decision going to a company that puts money into golf coverage.

Whether or not they offer anything to golf is open for argument, but they certainly offered a huge amount to golf fans.

So to those those unable to afford Sky, or to the Beeb who've championed golf for nearly 60 years, then both can go and swivel, as at the end of the day money is all that matters in the modern world.

It's not like the R&A completely overlooked the BBC for more money, the BBC didn't even bother placing a bid! They are even considering giving up the rights for the 2016 open. Shows you how much golf meant to the bbc.

BBC have covered the British Womens Open Championship!

Over the weekend I watched highlights of the Seniors at Close House, Northumberland. I then watched some of the European tour event in Austria, the PGA tournament in the US and had I wanted to, the Ladies PGA in the US. This is a pretty regular, weekly offering from Sky. Their coverage of the European events, no matter where in the world is great support for the Tour and should be applauded. The BBC pretty much offered The Open and The Masters only, happy to accept delc's comments about their single coverage of one ladies tournament.

The BBC wanted to cherry pick a couple of tournaments, Sky are there week in, week out. The BBC have ploughed their money into football and F1. This is a deliberate choice and they have spent large sums to get them. Even their token racing coverage has gone by the wayside. People need to stop hammering Sky. They have done huge amounts for sports coverage in the UK, puts lots of money in, have not walked away and have moved coverage forwards in ways the BBC never would have. I can not remember the panacea of sport that existed on the BBC that people seemed to remember. I'll give you Test cricket, but the rest is rose tinted memories.
