Made the usual mistake of up dating to the latest software for my SG5. Never a good idea.

I used to have hole view, so I got an aerial representation of the hole, while I now get something that looks like a view down a motorway. It kind of does the same thing, but looks a bit naff.

I have also lost the mark feature, which I wanted to use on Saturday. I can mark the location, but when I hit mark again, it just marks the new location, and doesn't tell me how far it is from the last one.

Any one else had any issues?

Which SkyCaddie do you have? I updated my SG5 last week and don't have any issues. The Hole view appears the same as before. The only noticeable difference is when you select the Scoring mode there are now only two options, New Round and Skip Scoring.

Same one. It seems every time I plug it in, it updates to new software, and something new and unexpected goes wrong with it. Not a good advert for the device.

Hi,

Is there a way of checking for the latest software on the skycaddie or does it auto prompt via caddiesync?

I've been having major bother trying to get my 2.5 to connect to a PC and having spent over 4hrs connected with their remote support over the weekend have lost the will to have any more dealings with them.

I have tried on 3 PCs, each different operating systems (XP, Vista and W7) and each time it is the same issue of the caddie not being able to be found by caddiesync which leads me to believe it is the unit but the remote support guys seemed unwilling to buy into that idea or discuss it - they are too busy playing with firewall and antivirus settings.

Has anyone else had any difficulties with the caddiesync? any tips that I may not have tried?

When I turn my skycaddie 2.5 on it tells me it's Version 3.98.4

I have the "motorway" overview but I think that is more the fact that my course hasn't been mapped to provide the other view. I do get the different view if I download Sand Martins where HID works for example. I've not had an issue with marking distances

AOK here.

I'm getting less motorway views and more hole representation, which is good.

It all seems to depend on the course.

I haven't tried ball marking recently....I'll be more that annoyed if it's gone. In fact, I think there would be some consumer rights issue if it has.....I bought it partly for this feature.

Could be the cable.

3.98.4?? My 2.5 is still ver 1.17. :D

marko, mines been fine. I'll log on tonight and find out which versions of software desktop and SG are running.

I think I've had at least four desk s/ware updates this year and at least three SG. you may need to completely re-install the desktop.

Cheers guys.

As an extreme measure I backed up my files to an external HD and reset the computer to factory settings. After letting the PC install necessary windows updates I went about setting up for Caddiesync and the same thing happened (or didn't happen).

As you say Leftie - it could be the cable? I really cannot see what else it could be.

Gonna ask around to borrow one to try.

SG2.5 s/ware vsn 3.98.4
Desktop vsn 6.4.1

I never log out of the CaddieSync desktop, that way all I need do is connect the SG; sometimes I have to do it a couple of times.

New update for the software uploaded while putting Lefties gaff on for Friday. Now got the over head view back for my home track. I love SkyCaddie, every day is different.

Marko,

I had issues with Caddiesync about a month ago where I was for throwing the bloody GPS and laptop out the window, like yourself I have the 2.5. This may be coincidence or not related at all however I was not running the most current Abode Reader. I uninstalled Abode Reader and re-installed it and low and behold the Skycaddie started syncing again and has worked ever since.

Cheers Craw - following the pc reset im back to minimal software but have reinstalled a few things. I am wary though that there might be a random application such as you had with Adobe that could be interrupting performance.

I'm borrowing a usb cable from someone tomorrow night so will see if it is that?

Adobe Reader is bloatware. I mean, it's a program to view a PDF not put a man on the moon or cure cancer. So why does it have to be 960GB in size and want to update itself every day ? It's the kind of crap software that gives software a bad name.

It is almost (but not quite) as bad as an HP printer driver.

Well, following my several hours on with their remote support and my own efforts to try find out what was wrong Skyhawke asked me to send the device to them to look at.

Hadn't heard anything about what was wrong but yesterday a new skycaddie replacement arrived and is working (so far).

Good customer service in the end although would have liked to know what the issue was with my original device.
