I think my views on SC are pretty well known. I was one of the first batch on here to get one (I got the 5.0 at a very silly price from my pro which is still less than the current RRP) and they are a great asset. If money is no object the colour screen does make it easier to see especially in sunny or overcast conditions but the 2.5 is perfectly functional.

I have more belief in a man on the ground than a man taking measurements from satellite pictures. Call me old fashioned but that is just the way it is. Also, if you don't renew your SC subscription you can still use any courses already downloaded as they are on the machine itself and not on the PC via the SC login and so cannot be taken from the SC device remotely.

Whats the price differences on these units
Sky caddie 2.5
Sky Caddie 5
Sonocaddie

That may swing my decision 1 way or the other if I decide to get one.
I use a basic gps device which gives me everything i need which is basically foe me a yardage.

I may treat myself though, Birthday in 7 days.

Hi Guys
Must apologise for the wrong information about the sky caddie if you do not renew your subscription the courses on the sky caddie are ok to use, but at a later date you try to download another course you have to pay the subscription and it is backdated to the original expiry date. SORRY FOR THE ERROR

I think the general consensus following this debate before was that the SC 2.5 offered the best service taking into account performance, unit size and cost. This is certainly my view and the reason I bought one, it did cost me £135 though so other people got a better deal about 3 weeks down the line! I'm happy with it though even at the more expensive cost.

Murph throughout this thread has explained why skycaddie are the leading GPS's - all that he has said is true and be it for peace of mind or physical accuracy it would be hard to not choose a skycaddie to be honest due to the way they work.
