Well I see that the 2.5 lite is on the market and the 1 is on its way.

This could make a big change to the market I guess for those that just want distances to the green.

Serious contenders or just a clever ploy to attract more people in?

Seems a very basic model even compared to the 2.5. My guess is this is the 1.0 rebranded. To be honest if I was in the market for a GPS and looking at SC I'd be wanting more for my money and this wouldn't feature.

I supose it depends upon how atractive they can make the lite version pricewise as to whether anyone will actually be interested in something that only gives distances to the green & no hazard recognition.

There are days, certainly on some courses, when only green distances are the important thing. But this is the real world & I for one would rather have asmuch usable information as I can get. And I can't see themdoing a reduced subscription to go along with the reduced facilities on the unit.

Personally with so many really good devices coming onto the market I'm not sure where the lite version will fit in the scheme of things, though I'm sure there has to be a call for something like this for people who only play parr3 courses or similar.

I recently bought a Sureshot 8800 and I'm very impressed so far. Partners who were a bit dismissive at first are now sidling up and asking for their yardages. (Of course, I add 10 yards ;)). Recommend you have a look at one before committing to anything else. Decent price at Nevada Bobs too £170.

Hello all. I am looking to get a golf GPS unit. I have looked at the old threads but am undecided. I quite fancied the Sonocaddie though it has no local courses mapped where I play. So I'm looking at a skycaddie 2.5/5 or a sureshot 8800. Any advice would be welcome. Are you sureshot owners quite happy with the unit?

Thanks in advance
