Superb....many doubted Monty but I hate,no I don't, I love to tell you all MONTY IS THE MAN!!

He has turned the team around after the shambles of Faldo's reign and he should be Knighted for this.

Apart from him picking that chopper from Ireland he has been a superb captain!!

Can't see why Monty should get a knighthood for this. He did well, but so did his players.

If anyone deserves a knighthood for services to the Ryder Cup it's Jacklin.
He turned it around, gave us our first win on American soil and elevated the Ryder Cup to what it is today.
He made the players believe in themselves, and proved that the Yanks weren't unbeatable.

Colin did not win this,the players did, but he is worth a pat on the back, knighthood... NO!!
 
I dont think this would be a good idea, the Queen would get too emotional during the knighthood as Monty looks too familiar to the late Queen Mother!
 
May be when he is older, then ok. His order of merit wins etc should count for something, but now is way too soon. It would be like giving Beckham a knighthood. He's won sod all too.

To be fair, had he not picked Paddy and paired him with Ross Fisher, I don't think we get the two points they earned. Harrington didn't play his best golf (he admitted as much), but he helped Ross Fisher no end this weekend.

But yes, Monty did an absolute Stellar job.

Can't wait to see the highlights later and see all the interviews. Only downside of watching it with no sound!
 
Sir Colin i don`t think so just yet maybe if he captain the NEXT RC and retain it then there would be a strong Possibility . i still got to catch up from yesterday highlights but it very nice to see Europe get the Ryder cup and stays where it belongs
 
Difficult, this is now a European not a National event so hard to justify. 'Europe' hasn't managed to create any orders as far as I know - though they probably have something for politicians that they keep quiet about.

Possibly a CBE though (he's already got the OBE) - though the CBI will probably object for creating the biggest outbreak of absenteeism!
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see the team rewarded though. Great performance. Given Monty's record in the RC and in general (OOM etc) do you not think it fair for him to receive some kind of gong for services to the sport if nothing else
 
I have to say that i thought Monty did a fantastic job captaining the team. He impressed me more each time he was interviewed and with each decision he made. Picking Harrington wasn't in my opinion a good move, i would have rather seen Rose get the nod over him.
His players were the ones hitting the shots but Monty and each of his Vice Captains were a huge factor in the result. There was some fantastic golf and i really enjoyed watching it this past few days.
Before play started i doubted his leadership qualities but i'm pleased to be proved so wrong, what a great Ryder Cup (apart from the rain) :) :)
 
Not for me,great job as captain but in euphorier of victory some can get carried away,Wait until his next personal tournament straight back to being a miserable git.
