Won’t matter a jot for me the 3 match play matches I’ve drawn a 5h/c and two 6 h/cs ?
normally I would tee off first

First usually, ours is a 220yd par 3 so if the wind is up might elect to go second.

Interesting, I thought going second would be the majority reply.

Thinking being, if opponent slices one out of bounds or shanks one in the bushes you can play more conservatively.

Depends on your viewpoint. If you go first and slam one up the fairway or on the green, it puts the pressure on them. Rather than them doing that to you.

On the Medal course at my place second always - twice I've had an opponent slap their tee shot onto the main Aberdeen-London railway line which runs down the right of the first hole - one of them put his second ball out too.

I’ve played matches where the opponent has the honour early, and proceeds to hit every fairway. The pressure of hitting 2nd knowing you’re likely to lose the hole by missing the fairway is pretty draining.

Matters not to me. I'm useless at match play. Although this morning I watched my opponent on Thursday hook his t shot left and couldn't find it. So there maybe hope.....

That assumes the club has that in it's Terms of the Competition. We deleted that when the new rules came in.
