Sick of watching Pro's not shout a warning

Granted and that's why they should shout.
But if you're paying attention you'll seethe Marshal's sign or see that someone around you has spotted it or, if you miss all these things, you'll be expecting it to come close...either way you're much less likely to get crowned than a group standing around talking to each other without a care as to what's going on around them......

But, Yeah they should shout....

Last time I went to a tournament I went to watch the players not the marshals . The players hit the balls not the marshals its just a matter of arrogance they are the best in the world and don't like bringing attention to their poor shots but there is a lot to say for the idea they don't shout because they want it to hit someone and hope it gets a favourable bounce. The one thing that needs attention is the disclaimer on the ticket smallprint which says you are responsible for your own safety on the course . How many have read this be honest. If you hit someone on your local course without shouting fore you would be sued so why not the pros its only a matter of time someone will sue them soon . I cant believe one of the yanks has not done so already they will sue if they break a nail.

Shouldn't the caddies stand behind the players to make sure they can follow the ball and shout if necessary. Oops.

Friend of mine was a caddy on the European tour several years ago and was instructed NOT to look to hard for FCs balls and NOT to shout fore on wide shots the reason given was it might stop it going in the trees or out of bounds. This pro had a very high profile and is now on the seniors tour The R&A need to step in and sort this out. What is the legal position any Briefs out there could you sue them as you would have good evidence if it was on TV.

At our Club Open last year, two of our ladies who had volunteered to be ball spotters turned up wearing their cycling helmets.
Sensible girls!

I'm pretty sure the legal position is that you are there at your own risk and if you get hit it's your fault for not paying attention.

So when you go to a Cricket match you don't pay at attention to the Umpire, or the Ref at Football......?

You don't watch the ball either because you're watching the players.......

If you're walking around the boundary at a 20:20 cricket match, not watching the action, and someone hits a 6 that smacks you on the side of the head - who's fault is it?

If you go to a Tournament you have a certain responsibility to keep yourself safe. Marshalls are there to help you do that. If you don't pay any attention to them then you're putting yourself at risk. Do you walk out and stand in the fairway when the players are teeing of..?Of course not, because the Marshall's and Common Sense tell you not to. So if a Marshall signals that a ball is coming your way and you ignore it who's fault is it when it hits you.?
It's Golf, wayward shots will be hit. You have to expect it
Yes, Players should shout - there is no possible argument against this. But sometimes it doesn't happen.
If it doesn't, but some other warning is given - the Marshall- why ignore it? Why ?
It's a wayward shot, they happened in all sports. At football, you're standing behind a goal and a shot misses, you're turned around talking to someone, the ball hits you.....the player's fault or yours..?
Too many people don't take enough responsibility for their own safety preferring to blame someone else.

BUT THE PLAYERS SHOULD STILL SHOUT........

I never said don't pay attention to the marshals. But really you might get a bloody nose of a football But I don't know any footballers that can kick a ball over 300yds its the distance that makes people unaware. I would not fancy a cricket ball in the mush but there are no trees on a cricket pitch to block your view. Any sport has its dangers but the ropes in a golf tournament are there for a reason if a pro golfer cant hit his ball inside the ropes then a warning should be MANDATORY for any shot that looks like it might go over the ropes NO shout and it goes over the ropes 2 shot penalty I guarantee this would stop tomorrow

Not so, strictly speaking... Organisers have a "duty of care"... Claimant would have to prove negligence in any claim though... Putting up warning notices, messages on tickets count for nowt....

I know it will never happen but I'm for a 1 shot penalty for not shouting FORE! It really is not difficult and then sets an example for kids and amateurs.
Does my head in when people don't shout it!
