Should the course be closed

As best as I could tell it was in the 2nd cut of "fringe" so not fairway cut. Probably pay back from the golfing gods for kicking back off a tree on the previous hole rather than hitting the lake !!

I believe winter rules is applicable to any mown area through the green.

I'll happily stand corrected though.

Our course was on temps today. Even the greens that were in sunlight for most of the day like our 17th were still frozen just under the surface and there would have been no way to have stopped or controlled a shot coming in. We were due to play the 2nd round of the winter knockout (Hawkeye and I) but the opponents agreed that it would be a lottery out there with temps so we've agreed to postpone until next Saturday which is the deadline. That should ensure gale force winds and torrential rain for Berkshire next weekend so if anyone has a game planned, Hawkeye and I are very sorry.

We played anyway with these guys and ended up all square so nothing learned and no psychological advantage gained or lost although I'm hoping my eagle par blitz on 15 and 16 will have worried them. Not sure why the captain of our team had to hit two OB on 16 or a glorious shank off the 13th tee but I'm sure he has a cunning game plan. They are really nice guys anyway and so any victory would have been hollow so I think the right decision given the conditions

15 holes for me today. Nice enough day, shame my golf was mince for the first 8 holes!
