Should Electric Trolleys be banned for the under 60s?

Nice to know we have a fair share of Ladies on this forum...

I shall be carrying this weekend, in the rain and I am not young or classically fit either...
some of these LADIES have a lower handicap than you tho so they must be doing something right, musnt they ?? :D glad to know youl be carrying, good for you man , what difference will that make to anyone elses game ?? none .. the elec trolley might tho .

A lot of Ladies have lower handicaps than me! Why would this be a factor in using a trolley or not?

Ladies also cook and Hoover, I dont!

like allowing athletes to use roller skates?

surely must be against the rules somewhere?

Not read all the replies but why should they be banned? I just can't think of any reason why they would be a form of cheating - the pro's have caddies for Christ sake!

"Pretty much bang on the money. But the comment about juniors not being able to carry is total toss. whe i was younger (14/15/16) i used to carry a bag for someone in the morning, have lunch and then caddie for two old boys in the afternoon, yes, one bag on my back in the morning, and two bags in the afternoon. This was back in the day when 90% of bags was leather, and 100% of them all had shite straps that cut my shoulders up."

We used to live in a shoebox in the middle of the road, get up half an hour before we went to bed etc etc (apologies to Messrs Cleese, Palin & Idle)

What's-a'goin'-on here then?

A totally pointless wind up knickers in a twist post.

Laissez Faire.

I have 4 different types of bags and three trolleys. Does anyone care which combination I bring to the course. No, as long I get on with it.

I don't like Juniors using trolleys, but that's 'cause I'm envious that Daddy bought them a £400 powakaddy when I got 3 satsumas for Christmas.

mayb the trolley helps is what i mean ?? as for the cooking & hoovering , guess you just behind the times with everything so .. :D

( 1 )secondly, I don't want to be seen as a big girls blouse that can't lift a bag for a few hours.. :D

(2)It was either Sam Snead or Ben Hogan who said that you should always carry your clubs as it builds up shoulder muscles and these are what you need to hit the ball a long way. I am with them.

( 3 )I generally look favourably on players who carry. It is the right thing to do in my view.
( 1) so its about how you look to others them ?? bad reason to do anything is it not ?
( 2 ) So you DO AGREE with timgolfy then IT IS about hitting it along way . you do suprise me agreeing with tim ..
( 3 ) how many people care who looks favourably on them do you think? as for the right thing to do ?? 80 yard aproach shot... 1 player uses 58* wedge .. 2nd uses pw.. 3rd bumps & runs an 8 .. whats the right thing to do here? or is it about what works for you ?? elec trolley works for some it doesnt for others . if it does then use it, if it doesnt then dont . but whether you look favourable on some one or not should have nothing to do with carrying or elec trolley .. should it ? if your best friend started using one would it change your view of him ? id hope not ? so why have that view of some one you dont know ??

1. No.
2. Yes, partially.
3. I think you asked me 7 questions in point 3, some of which seem rhetorical so I will just answer the pertinent one. My best friend has got a powacaddy and I have told him he's a f*****g pu*f.

I carry but playing a hilly course this week made me wish I had a trolley. I had a great front 9 for my standards and then fell apart on the back 9 simply because I was knackered.

Has made me think about one for xmas

I laugh a lot at people who moan at those who have an electric trolley. What difference does it make to you? Naf all difference is the answer to that.

You tell your partner hes a poof for having a trolley yet your the one looking to impress by carrying your clubs in front of all the other blokes in your group? pot kettle black anyone?

People are more than happy to say anything that works for them is brilliant and everyone should have one, when it doesnt work for them its useless and shouldnt be used. Comment earliar in the thread said save your money and buy a hybrid, how about save your money and learn to hit a 3 iron with a lesson???

Who cares who is pulling or got an electric trolley or carries it makes no difference to your game. Golf is an individual sport so you suit your equipment to your game. So whether people use chippers, hybrids, broom handle putters, adjustable drivers.

Concentrate on your own games rather than criticise others on theres and how they decide to play this game we all love.

Hi, if I were you I'd go see your doctor, the drugs he's given you are too strong.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Doc... ;)

Doc, I think you have a point here....

Apparently Powerkaddy are giving away a years supply of Sanitary Towels for all new purchases...

okey dokey well at least tim will be happy , :D if someone can give me a logical reason they should not be used il take that on board , when the 460cc drivers came out some people were against them aswell same when balls changed , anything that makes your past time easier & more enjoyable is a runner for me , if you think carrying makes it more enjoyable for you then great , if you mate is a what you called him above then why be friends or play golf together then ?? your 1st answer of NO.. (to my question of "bad reason to do anything")if your reason is to do stuff in life to please others or to look good to others then ... not alot i can say to that

As you all know I have a Robocaddy, fantastic trolley, well yesterday something went tits up on it, so I had to get our pro to bring me out a pull trolley for the last 6 holes. Let me tell you I was KNACKERED after those 6 holes of pulling a trolley. Thank goodness for my robocaddy. If you need an electric trolley go for it.

I have a load of crap in my golf bag. It goes on an electric trolley. If I was carrying, I'd take most of it out, but I'm not, so I don't. Is it necessary? No, not usually, but as I'm not carrying I'll stuff it in there anyway.

Like a few others on here, I have issues with my back. I can carry, and sometimes do so, but I can't do it as often as I'd like. I do prefer carrying though.

I look perfectly fit and healthy, I'm not fat, I don't view golf as exercise, and am never tired playing golf. Someone might well look across a fairway, and think why am I not carrying, I look like a berk with a trolley. I am not fussed. They don't know anything about me, certainly not enough to make a judgement.

Dave, that is so true and is without doubt the best reply I have seen.

Have a BIG green dot for that!

I always used to carry until over twelve months ago I became ill now it's physicaly impossible for me to carry for 18 holes and enjoy my golf.
Should I now give up 14years of membership and stop seeing all my friends and opponents that I have made and played with and against for all that time.

Anything that prolongs the playing life of us all has got to be a good thing all round both individualy and collectivly.
