Should Club Manufacturers start selling Driver heads only?

I can't get on with the stock shafts in clubs. Waste of time aether are far too flexible for me. I would just pull the shaft and replace it with one that suits me. I would love just a head only service.

Also a lot of the shafts you see are not 'made for' versions especially in Tour or TP models, as well as certain brands such as Titleist.
Is that the case with the 913?
The 910's were "exclusively designed for Titleist", certainly my ahina and my father in law's k'aili were. Not that either was a bad shaft...

The 'exclusive design' was probably the look of the graphics - particularly the 'exclusively designed for' bit!:D Pretty sure that the 913s were 'Real McCoy' shafts - at least the Upgrades, that still had that graphic on them.

Never had a problem when I have bought stock shafts in the past. I don't see any merit in this myself as many "average" golfers aren't into shaft technology and only want something they feel comfy with off the shelf.

As an engineer I'd look at a different option. The manufacturer should supply approved retailers with heads in different lofts, modified with a shaft adaptor so that a multitude of shafts and shaft lengths can be fitted.

This will allow the buyer to go to a fitting where a number of shafts can be tried in a master head so that he can select the right flex, profile and length shaft to suit his game.

It would then be a simple case of ordering your custom measured club and receiving it a week later.

You seem to be describing the experience I had, though I thought of it as a custom fit.

Edit: I hit the Pro head version better (spin, launch, about 10 yards carry...), but wanted the option of a draw setting and wasn't that interested in 10 yards here or there. I was told no worries and that I could always get the other head at a later date as the shaft'd fit into it anyway (just settings get messed around a little i.e. it'd be consistent but read different or I might have been told I could send it back and have the adapters swapped).

I think its a growing trend in the usa. Ive lurked on some American forums when searching for club reviews and they seem to all have put oem shafts in their drivers.

Not sure if it would take off over here. It might given the number of adjustable clubs being released now as its far easier to change.
