When I was fitted by TM for my SLDR I had, and still have a cut down Black Tie driver shaft that is effectively a 3w shaft and it offers so much more control.
I do this at present and it seems to help, just wondered what effect the extra weight would have. Why not just grip down an inch?
I might be flying solo here but a shorter shaft in my driver achieves nothing beneficial.
Similar in terms of strike and dispersion but less distance - so much so that I'm better off using a 3 wood...
I bought an aldila tour green 3 wood shaft, same as the shaft in my 3 wood, 75g but I put a g30 adaptor on it for my driver, it's early days but I am actually shocked at how much more in control I currently feel. Don't get me wrong I still hit the odd bad one and it's a work in progress but it's def worth a try if you are maybe struggling with the big stick. It's about 1.5 inches shorter and little heavier and really suits my swing. Anyway, just wanted to share as I'm feeling good about![]()
So the advice seems to be to get a driver with a shorter shaft and more loft.
We used to call that a 3 wood.
The only difference seems to be a 'mini driver' is a bit more difficult to hit off the fairway.
My advice would be...if you cant hit your driver, get a strong 3 wood that you can hit off the tee AND off the fairway.
